A certification programme for the G3-PLC, which will be available for both present and future members of the G3-PLC Alliance, is being launched. The certification programme will cover conformance, performance and interoperability testing. Products will be awarded with the certificate if they conform to the G3-PLC specifications, fulfil defined performance requirements and are interoperable with other G3-PLC certified devices.

Chipsets and a wide range of G3-PLC products including meters, data concentrators and home energy management systems manufactured by the members of the G3-PLC Alliance, will be covered by the certification. To run the certifications tests, the G3-PLC Alliance has appointed member companies LAN and TÜV Rheinland. The programme launches on 1st September 2014 for chipsets, covering A, ARIB (Japan Route B) and FCC bandplan, and 1st October 2014 for products.

Marc Boillot, Chairman, G3-PLC Alliance: "After the interim certification set up in March 2014, the Official and Worldwide certification will now support the G3-PLC market, and will secure the tenders launched by the utilities. Certification will guarantee the correct implementation of the G3-PLC specifications, the performance and the interoperability of the products".
