For many years, electronica has provided a biennial shop window for the global electronics industry and, over time, has become the largest event of its kind in the World. The 2010 fair was attended by more than 72,000 visitors from 76 countries and 2,578 exhibitors from 46 countries and this year’s show is on track to be equally as successful.
electronica 2012 - www.electronica.de/en - will be held at the Munich Trade Fair Center from November 13 to 16 and will cover technologies, products and solutions across the complete spectrum of the electronics industry: From semiconductors, connectors and other electromechanical devices to measuring and testing systems, electronics design and embedded products, passive components, wireless systems, power supplies and PCBs through to EMS and distribution.

As before, electronica 2012 will be much more than simply an exhibition where companies show product to visitors. There is a comprehensive conference program supported by single subject forums and a CEO Round Table where key industry executives discuss a major industry topic in front of an inquisitive audience. This time, the topic will be “Semiconductor solutions for the Smart Grid Challenge”. Conference and forum topics will include automotive electronics, wireless technology and embedded systems.

Automotive Electronics – As well as a large automotive-related presence within the exhibition itself, there will be an automotive forum and the ever popular electronica automotive conference will be staged on November 12 and 13. Key subjects will include how the electronics industry can help automotive manufacturers further efficiencies in electro-mobility and using electronics technology to increase driver safety

During this conference, executives from the global car, automotive component supply and electronics industries will present technologies, solution approaches and strategies with which the industry is intending to tackle the challenges in coming years.

Embedded Platforms – electronica is staging the embedded platforms conference which runs from November 14 to 15. Nicole Schmitt, electronica Exhibition Director (pictured), explains the significance of the new platform: “The conference is our way of addressing the challenge facing embedded system engineers, who can come here to gather specific information about selecting a platform that is right for them.” Processor and controller manufacturers and their software partners can also attend seminars and lectures to find out what solutions they can use to support developers in the areas of component selection and system design. Sponsors that have already indicated interest include Infineon and TQ Components.

Embedded technology is a topic of great importance throughout the entire electronics industry. At electronica 2010, that fact was documented by 230 German and international companies in this sector and by the embedded Forum. As of 2012, the embedded platforms conference not only gives exhibitors an additional platform where they can present their developments and solutions. It also gives system architects and developers an opportunity to gather information about pioneering technologies and their potential applications.

Wireless Technology – The electronica Wireless Congress will be held on November 14 and 15 and will focus on the future of wireless technology and its many applications. Wireless technology in all its forms plays a key role in computing and communications and its importance is set to grow dramatically as our thirst to access the internet from anywhere gathers pace. From RFID security in retail outlets to smart metering and intelligent domestic appliances through to today’s data phones and ZigBee™ and Bluetooth™ compatible products, wireless technology is big business. The conference program, which is yet to be finalized, will cover the latest standards, key technology developments and discuss how wireless solutions will come to affect everyone.

Online Visitor Registration – This is expected to be open to visitors from July 2.
