Letchworth-based DataSound Laboratories (DSL), a leading provider of computing solutions and specialist custom design services, has moved to larger premises as part of its continued expansion. In addition to providing more office and warehousing space, the new facilities in Aylesford Court, Letchworth include purpose-built research and engineering studios to meet the growing demand for UK-based systems design and development services.
DSLs growing engineering teams offer fast, reliable and economic outsourced services from PCB (Printed Circuit Board) layout to fully-customised and integrated system design. With over 20 years’ experience across a wide range of markets from marine and defence through automotive and transportation to advanced media and telecommunications, DSL can take a design from concept to full working prototype in just weeks, which reduces development costs and time to market.

DSL also offers a wide range of standard products from touch screen panel PCs and single board computers to rugged industrial displays and embedded computing solutions.

“When off the shelf products fail to meet the exact specifications, most companies don’t have the in-house skills and tools to deliver advanced custom design and increasingly they moving away from overseas companies to work with a UK-based partner that can provide greater support, flexibility and quality,” said Derek Carpenter, managing director at DSL. “Our growing custom design capabilities provide highly-effective ‘on demand’ services that remove on-going R&D overheads from our customers and provide a cost-effective, risk free approach to resolving project overload or resource shortages,” adds Carpenter.

DSL has established strong relationships with leading vendors such as AMD, Microsoft Windows Embedded, Insyde and XJTag; and has also been awarded Microsoft® Silver OEM Hardware Competency status.
