BrewDog and Graze confirmed for London Food Tech Week

More speakers have been confirmed for London Food Tech Week, the biggest celebration of the latest Food Tech trends transforming the food and drink ecosystem, which is just around the corner (20th-24th May 2019). Held at iconic venues across central London, the festival welcomes Food Tech startups, businesses and investors from around the globe with each day taking on a different theme.

The newest addition to the speaker line-up is Barney Wragg, Co-founder and CEO of the London-based robot chef start-up, Karakuri. He is fresh from securing £7m worth of investment from Ocado in a bid to boost its ready-made food offerings. Karakuri's first product is the Marley robot system, which can make customised ice-cream orders and cocktails. Attendees can also hear how Alessandro Incisa, CTO at Makr Shakr, created the robot bartender which is challenging the worldwide bar scene.

Other keynote speakers include David McDowall, CEO of Retail at BrewDog who will talk about the latest developments in retail and hospitality for the UK’s most disruptive craft brewery. YouTube legend Jamie Spafford, Co-founder and Head of Partnerships of online recipe channel SORTEDfood and Anthony Fletcher, CEO of snack box giant graze are also part of the line-up. 

With CBD the ingredient on everyone’s lips, Tony Calamita the Co-founder of CBD Oils UK and Love Hemp, a range of trusted CBD products is a welcome addition to the line-up.

Just Eat and sustainable packaging startup and London Marathon water pouch supplier, Skipping Rocks Lab will speak at the event about how they worked together to pilot a scheme to reduce single use plastic packaging by introducing seaweed-based sauce sachets in takeaways. 

Co-founders of The Gut Stuff, Lisa and Alana MacFarlane, better known as The Mac Twins from Love Island, will lead a panel examining how the science of gut health, a hugely prominent wellbeing topic, can be brought to consumers by retailers and food producers. 

Another headline speaker is Sam Conniff Allende, entrepreneur and author of Be More Pirate, who will be challenging the audience to manifest their inner pirate in order to positively disrupt the food industry. Meanwhile, Isabel Hoffmann, Founder and CEO of Tellspec LTD will inform us on the transparency of food fraud and how technology can help manufacturers and retailers future proof their business.

Italian bioengineer Giuseppe Scionti from Spanish startup NovaMeat, who invented the ‘world's first’ 3D-printed meat-free steak' made from vegetable proteins, will be speaking and showcasing at the Tuesday Food and Drink day. He said: “I’m delighted to be involved in the world’s biggest and most disruptive celebration of Food Tech, to share our experiences and open up discussion about how Food Tech can revolutionise what we eat and how we manufacture in the future.”
