Altium has announced key new appointments within its European team, underlining the importance of the European market and regional business activities. Altium has appointed Martin Harris, former VP Sales & Support EMEA at Altium Europe, to regional CEO for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
/> This move reflects a focus on growth and is part of Altium’s worldwide strategy to elevate sales regions to regional business status. Mr Harris will continue to manage Altium’s business in the EMEA region, and will lead strategic negotiations at CEO levels with customers and new prospects throughout Europe.

Martin Harris said, “We've seen an increase in the number of Altium Designer seat counts, and in the past financial year (ending June 30th) more than 1,100 new companies in EMEA migrated to Altium Designer. We aim to maintain this momentum.

“As Europe’s economies continue their respective recoveries from the economic downtown, the overriding theme we’re hearing from many companies is the desire to make a difference in the products they design, in how they design them, and in extending their reach with their customers in new ways. And we’re hearing this at senior management levels and from individual designers. Our job is to help make this a reality for as many organizations as we can.”

The development of Altium Designer has been strengthened by the recent acquisition of software company Morfik (see separate announcement), which provides tools for building cloud-based applications. Altium Designer will form the basis of the tools and infrastructure required to help electronics designers develop their own ecosystems of intelligent, connected devices, running their own cloud-based applications.

Altium has also appointed Frank Krämer to the position of Technical Marketing Director for EMEA, as part of this growth in the EMEA region. Mr Krämer has been working for Altium since 2002, most recently in the position of Manager Application & Support EMEA. After graduating from the Technical University of Karlsruhe (now Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997, he started as a Technical Support Application Engineer in the reseller sector, working with a range of EDA tools.

“With our flagship product Altium Designer and our TASKING compiler tools, which play an important role in the regional automotive industry, we have a fantastic foundation to expand our success in Europe,” said Frank Krämer. “Working in this new role with the highly motivated team at Altium and our partners is a terrific opportunity and I am looking forward to this new endeavour.”
