Texas Instruments has introduced two 14- and 12-bit, 210-MSPS analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) to its pin-compatible, high-speed ADS5546 family. The ADS5547 and ADS5527 provide the highest performance at 210 MSPS with up to 73.3-dBFS signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and 85-dBc spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) at 70 MHz input frequency .

Comprising the ZXCZM800 multi-channel digital modulator and the ZXCZA200 analog feedback processor, a digital amplifier chipset from Zetex Semiconductors has been introduced to create audio products capable of producing a sound quality to rival that of the best linear amplifiers. Based on Zetex Semiconductors’ unique Class Z direct digital feedback amplifier (DDFA) architecture, the chipset enables high performance products such as home theatre, stereo hi-fi and active speaker applications to achieve THD+N performance levels of less than 0.004% and a dynamic range of 120dB.

Microchip announces the highest resolution analogue-to-digital converter available in a 6-pin SOT-23 package. The low-power, 18-bit, Delta-Sigma MCP3421 ADC features an integrated voltage reference, oscillator and Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA), which reduce the need for external components and enables a smaller overall design.

Catalyst Semiconductor has added five new 32-tap devices to its extensive family of over 30 Digitally Programmable Potentiometers [DPP(tm)]. The CAT5123, CAT5124 and CAT5125 are volatile devices, while the CAT5127 and CAT5129 offer non-volatile wiper storage. All of the new Catalyst digital potentiometers feature a user-friendly up/down control interface.

Analog Devices Inc., today introduced the first dual 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to achieve sampling rates of 150 mega samples per second (MSPS). Supporting all third-generation (3G) base station wireless standards, including W-CDMA, CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA, the AD9640 is the only dual 14-bit ADC that samples at rates beyond 135 MSPS, a common requirement for the emerging WiMax (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) standard.

Fifth generation high performance 65nm FPGA offers 35% dynamic power reduction
Xilinx’s latest high performance field programmable gate array (FPGA) Virtex-5 LX, is now available from DT Electronics. Built on Xilinx’s ExpressFabric architecture, the V5LX allows designs to be packed in 45% less area, operate with up to 30% performance improvement and 35% dynamic power reduction. Each platform within the Virtex-5 family has been optimised to offer a balance of high-performance logic, serial connectivity, signal and embedded processing to suit difference applications. The Virtex-5LX platform, aimed at high-performance general logic applications, is available in six device configurations and features 550 MHz clocking technology with performance-tuned IP blocks.

 High-Performance, Small 12-bit, 500 MSPS ADC from TI
Texas Instruments has introduced a monolithic 12-bit, 500 MSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC) providing unmatched size and performance. The new pipeline ADC offers 64.5 dBFS signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) up to 500 MHz input frequency at 500 MSPS, bringing a new class of performance to customers previously confined to 8- and 10-bits of resolution. In a space-saving 14 mm x 14 mm package, the new ADC meets the resolution and speed requirements of applications such as communications, amplifier linearization, test and measurement instrumentation, software-defined radio and radar and imaging systems.
