Celebrating the marriage of the industry’s leading 8-bit MCU innovators, Microchip and Atmel is Ineltek, as well as the birth of four new members of the popular TinyAVR family with a development kit giveaway. The first 20 customers to contact Ineltek UK will receive a new ATTiny817-Xmini AVR XPLAINED Development Kit absolutely free.

This week has seen the release of the ATtiny817/816/814/417 devices, packed with features not previously seen in TinyAVR products from Atmel and representing the next generation of AVR microcontrollers. These features include:

  • Event System (EVSYS) for direct Core Independent Peripheral-to-Peripheral signalling.
  • Peripheral Touch Controller (PTC) supporting both self- and mutual-capacitance PCB sensors.
  • Configurable Custom Logic (CCL) 3-input Lookup Table (LUT) to eliminate logic gates.
  • 10-byte Unique Serial Number.
  • Fully featured USART and LIN slave.
  • Internal 8MHz production-calibrated RC oscillator to 3% over 2.7-4.0V and 0-85°C.
  • 10-bit Successive Approximation ADC supporting speeds up to 15ksps.

All devices in the family boast 4k or 8kbytes of flash memory which is in-system reprogrammable across the whole 1.8-5.5V operating range, 128 bytes of EEPROM and up to 512 bytes or SRAM. The parts are all supported by Atmel’s free START online tool as well as Atmel Studio and other 3rd party development environments.

“Ineltek UK is incredibly proud to have the opportunity to work with Microchip” explained Ineltek UK’s Technical Director, Shaun O’Brien. “We’ve been Atmel’s number one distributor in the UK in recent years and in Germany for decades and we’re very excited about the prospect of what the combined Microchip/Atmel portfolio can offer our embedded customers.”

O’Brien added: “This product launch shows Microchip’s commitment to the AVR product line and its army of followers.”
