Toshiba Electronics Europe has expanded its family of TFT-enabled microcontrollers with a high-performance, low power consumption 32-bit device that combines high-level processing, high-capacity memory, and integrated colour LCD controller in a compact 20mm x 20mm package. Target applications for the new TMP92CF29FG will include new and emerging home appliances where the trend is towards colour TFTs that enhance the user experience.

Microprocessor delivers 2.8 GFLOPS to industrial applications requiring graphics
Renesas Technology Europe has announced the immediate availability of the SH7780 microprocessor that delivers Pentium-class floating point performance into consumer and industrial markets. The device is ideal for applications requiring high-end graphics and so features a floating point unit (FPU) tailored for that purpose. Furthermore it consumes only 2.5W, is available in a -40 to 85 degree C version, integrates PCI, has a long life time, and is low cost compared to a Pentium microprocessor of similar FPU performance.

Microchip Introduces 128-Kbit, 512-Kbit and the Industry’s Fastest 1-Mbit SPI Serial EEPROM
Microchip introduces the 25AA1024 and 25LC1024 - the fastest 1 Megabit serial EEPROM devices in the industry – along with the 25AA128, 25LC128, 25AA512 and 25LC512 128 Kbit and 512 Kbit devices. Microchip now provides SPI serial EEPROMs across a wide memory-density range (1 Kbit – 1 Mbit). All of the new devices are specified to operate over an extended temperature range (up to 125°C), and provide the performance for which Microchip’s serial EEPROM devices are known, including over 1 million erase/write cycles and 200-year data retention.

Fairchild's Integrated FET Module Delivers 50 Percent Space-Savings in Synchronous Buck Converter Designs
Fairchild Semiconductor ’s FDMS9600S and FDMS9620S are two highly integrated modules that significantly reduce board space while providing the ability to achieve higher conversion efficiency in synchronous buck designs. Each module in the FDMS96xx series combines a high-side and low-side N-Channel MOSFET and one monolithically integrated Schottky diode into a single, space-efficient, 5mm x 6mm MLP package. This integration results in a highly efficient solution for severely space-constrained applications such as notebook computers, small form factor desktops, media center PCs, ultra-dense servers, blade servers, advanced gaming systems, graphic cards, networking and telecom equipment, and other DC-DC designs.
