As part of its wide range of footswitches and hand controls, Herga Technology designs and manufactures IEC and UL 60601-1 approved switching devices for medical device and medical support equipment applications. The UK designer and manufacturer offers a comprehensive standard range of ergonomic single- or multi-pedal switches that are available with electrical/electronic, pneumatic, Bluetooth wireless and USB switching technologies.

In addition, a custom product service is available that follows Herga’s project gate process, ensuring a thorough product development progression from initial concept to launch and beyond - with full life-cycle support. Customised products typically combine switching with potentiometers, joysticks and other precision controls for user-specified setting and actuating devices - and provide medical equipment OEMs with durable and ergonomic controls that enhance their product features and benefits.

A large selection of medical grade footswitches and hand controls are available from stock and user selectable options such as alternative cabling, connectors, fixings and colours are available on short lead times. Fully customised devices include all these options in addition to customer specified livery and style matched housings that complement the customer’s own equipment.

Herga’s medical grade footswitches and hand controls include up to IPX8 ingress protection and are built from durable materials that are impervious to cleaning solutions and liquids that are commonly used in medical applications. For highest reliability, fully encapsulated electronics with certified medical industry approvals (UL, CSA, EN etc.) ensure globally accepted use.

Applications range from electrosurgical use in X-Ray, MRI, CT and dentistry to hoist & lift controls, and from foot operated ophthalmology to surgical microscope positioning.
