How to set up the motor controller for the drylin E linear robot
In this week’s video, Rene Erdmann, head of the drylin E electric drive technology business unit at igus, shows how easy it is to set up the dryve motor controller for the drylin E linear robot. The web-based system can interface easily to a desktop PC, tablet or smartphone – simply type in the IP address and connect directly to the controller’s interface. Here, different parameters, such as the drive profile, can be set.
Collaborative grippers and force-torque sensor upgrades launched
On Robot, OptoForce and Perception Robotics will present its first new products at automatica 2018. The Gecko Gripper, Polyskin Tactile Gripper, RG2-FT gripper and a technical upgrade of the HEX force-torque sensor product line based on OptoForce technology will open up new applications for collaborative robotics and make implementation even easier. OnRobot has positioned itself from the ground up as the provider for collaborative grippers and en...
Robot car parks fully autonomous
The robot car Marilyn from VTT is currently undergoing tests on fully autonomous parking in the area furthest from its driver, at a distance of up to 100m. The Internet of Things (IoT) assists the car in finding and driving into a free space.

The future is now as Brits believe we're co-existing with robots
A fifth of UK adults polled ahead of UK Robotics Week believe that humans are already co-existing in harmony with robots in the UK, a new survey has found, while nearly a quarter believe that there is much more scope for robots to be included in everyday society. The research, commissioned by the EPSRC UK Robotics and Autonomous Systems (UK-RAS) Network, is being released for UK Robotics Week, which returns from 21–29th June 2018. &nbs...
Determining the future of robotics power
The wide adoption of service and industrial robots to perform tasks alongside humans in hazardous environments has led to the power demands of today’s robots varying drastically. To address this Ultralife is inviting design engineers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to take part in its market research about the next-gen of power solutions for the robotics sector.
