TESSY adds ABIX HiperSIM for MLX16 system verification
TESSY now integrates the ABIX HiperSIM simulator for the reliable and fast verification of automotive embedded software based on MELEXIS MLX16 CPUs. The new integration enables embedded developers and test engineers to streamline their verification processes for embedded automotive controllers, such as motor drivers, pressure sensors, ambient lighting control systems, utilising Melexis’ 16-bit RISC CPU architecture – which significantly increases automation capabilities.
Reducing complexity and improving automation
Razorcat’s TESSY is a powerful unit and integration testing tool certified for safety-critical automotive applications according to ISO 26262. The test platform automates the entire unit test process for C/C++ code from managing and executing tests to tracking requirements, measuring coverage, reporting, and tracing. TESSY supports test teams in efficiently designing, managing, and automatically generating optimal test cases, both in the user-friendly TESSY GUI and fully automatically for CI/CD; the integrated Classification Tree Editor (CTE) provides a systematic and easy understandable way to create test cases; the Hyper Coverage feature helps identifying variants and untested code and provides a complete view of the test coverage combined from all tests.
In particular for automotive software development projects with strict safety requirements, TESSY reduces the complexity of embedded software testing, while increasing automation, code quality and reliability of the overall system.
Simulating CPUs for efficient testing
ABIX HiperSIM is a powerful high-speed simulator for a wide range of CPU architectures: Being able to read CPU architecture descriptions, it can easily be tailored to simulate any specific processor, including MELEXIS MLX16 cores. The MELEXIS MLX16 CPUs are widely used in automotive embedded systems with demanding efficiency and performance requirements as the CPUs offer ultra-low power modes, small memory footprint, direct memory access, fast co-processors for multiplication and division.
The seamlessly integrated ABIX HiperSIM within TESSY’s unit testing workflows provides developers and test engineers with a streamlined and robust platform. Developers benefit from more accurate insights into the performance and behaviour of their embedded software, especially in complex safety-critical automotive applications. Testers can simulate MELEXIS MLX16-based systems within TESSY for detailed software validation, including the unique behaviours of the CPU and its power modes. ABIX HiperSIM can be easily adapted to any CPU architecture to create custom simulations, while the high-speed simulations accelerate the development, verification and debugging process – and therefore shorten time to market.
“At Razcorcat, we are committed to providing our customers with the best automated unit test tools, especially for safety-critical applications,” said Michael Wittner, CEO of Razorcat Development GmbH. “TESSY with the support for the ABIX HiperSIM simulator is now the best test platform for embedded software developers and testers working on MELEXIS MLX16-based automotive systems.”
“By integrating ABIX HiperSIM with TESSY, we are giving developers a confidence boost when working with the MELEXIS MLX16 architecture in embedded automotive systems,” said Günther Nadbath, CEO of ABIX. “The ability to simulate complex CPU behaviours and power modes in an intuitive testing environment significantly improves and shortens the development cycle.”
