Designed for automotive applications, the VJ....31X series of MLCCs has been introduced by Vishay Intertechnology. Available with C0G, X7R and X8R dielectrics, in six body sizes ranging from 0402 to1812, the devices offer high voltages and high-temperature operation of up to +150°C for increased reliability.

The MLCCs are manufactured in precious metal technology with a wet build process and robust design. Qualified according to AEC-Q200 with PPAP available on request, the VJ....31X devices are optimised for automotive powertrain, chassis, lighting and comfort electronics, in addition to industrial sensors. The devices can be used in engine, steering, and headlight control units, battery and power management, and power supplies.

The MLCCs with a C0G dielectric offer high voltages to 3000VDC, low capacitance down to 1pF, a TCC of 0ppm/°C ±30ppm/°C from -55 to +125°C, and an aging rate of 0% maximum per decade. Suitable for decoupling and filtering, the X7R and X8R devices provide higher capacitance to 1.0µF, voltages to 1000VDC, TCC of ±15% from -55 to +125°C (X7R) and +150°C (X8R), and an aging rate of 1% maximum per decade.

The VJ....31X MLCCs feature 100% matte tin plate terminations and are available with polymer flexible terminations for additional protection against board flexure damage. The devices are halogen-free and compliant to ROHS and the automotive ELV directive beyond 2016.
