ESD protection for automotive high-speed video links
Autonomous driving is one of the big trends predicted to change the future of the automotive industry. Its successful adoption is dependent on overcoming barriers such as the need for more safety and information for the driver and the passengers. This in turn is driving the development of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) and safety infotainment applications for use in future autonomous vehicles.
Automotive inductors save space under the hood
The high temperature Automotive Grade IHLP low profile, high current inductors range from Vishay has been extended with a new device in the 2020 case size.
A zero carbon transportation system
In July 2021, the UK Government unveiled its plan to decarbonise the entire domestic transport system to align with the net zero by 2050 target. All forms of domestic transport will be decarbonised - on land, air and sea. Simone Bruckner Managing Director of automotive resistor manufacturer Cressall, investigates how transport manufacturers can support these plans and cut out transport’s carbon reliance.
Automotive OEMs urged to reduce supply chain risk
Automotive OEMs are being advised to take a systems-level look at their supply chains and take immediate action to minimise the risk of over-reliance, as the global semiconductor shortage continues to cripple global production schedules.
The critical role of EVs in driving climate change
World EV Day on 9th September will highlight and promote the role of EVs in the move to net zero and decarbonisation.
Trends to track for Li-ion batteries in EVs
Overall, worldwide electric car sales were stronger than expected in 2020. Additionally, investment continued to pour into electric vehicles (EVs) and Li-ion batteries with 2020 seeing an additional 200GWh of planned capacity announcements in Europe, and this figure continues to grow on a regular basis in 2021.
Automotive electronic solutions cover ICs and connectors
New products to help engineers implement next-generation automotive electronic designs have been introduced by distributor Mouser Electronics.
Electric Vehicles vs Hybrid Electric Vehicles
As the transportation sector becomes electrified, many consumers remain conflicted about buying a new car that is fully an Electric Vehicle (EV). Whether warranted or based on misconceptions, concerns about EVs are slowing their adoption. Fortunately for automotive suppliers, and power electronics engineers, Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) offer a 'bridge' technology to going totally electric.
