Receiver reduces power loss by as much as 50%
Supporting both WPC Qi 1.1 and PMA specifications, the bq51221 is a 5W wireless power receiver from Texas Instruments. The company claims that the device is the industry’s smallest, most efficient wireless power receiver to support both WPC and PMA specifications, with TI further claiming the device reduces power loss by as much as 50% when compared to existing receiver solutions.
Controller enables secure over-air transmission for IoT
Providing IoT designers with secure over-air transmission, LPRS's easyRadio Integrated Controller (eRIC) is available with an AES 128 bit data encryption option. Available with operating frequencies for World Markets, the eRIC is just half the size and half the cost of the easyRadio range and can be set by users to operate in a number of low power modes offering current consumption as low as 32µA.
Compact rotary joint for use in Ka-band applications
Specifically designed for use in low-profile Ka-band satellite-on-the-move terminals in either military or commercial applications, a compact dual-channel coaxial rotary joint has been introduced by Link Microtek. The AMCORJD-Ka rotary joint features a central K-type coaxial channel for transmissions in the 27.5-31.0GHz range and an outer DC-3GHz SMA coaxial channel for L-band receive signals.
Rochester re-introduces Intel’s powerful automotive MCU
Rochester Electronics is officially licensed by Intel to continue manufacturing the 80C196KC 16-bit microcontroller. The powerful 80C196KC is a high performance member of the MCS 96 microcontroller family, which utilises the CHMOS III process that provides a high performance processor along with low power consumption.
Processors integrate WLAN and NAND flash memory
At embedded world 2014, Toshiba Electronics Europe will exhibit a variety of application processors incorporating the IEEE802.11ac baseband standard for high-speed wireless LAN - and NAND flash memory. The TZ5000 series is suitable for applications including over-the-top tuners, IP media boxes, wearable devices, digital signage and thin clients.
WPC & PMA compliant IC aids in mobile device development
Billed as the industry's first dual-mode, wireless power receiver compatible with both the WPC and PMA standards, the IDTP9023 has been unveiled by IDT. The single-chip wireless power reciever enables OEMs to use a single wireless power receiver IC to develop mobile devices fully compatible with the latest versions of both Qi and PMA charging bases.
The industry's first GNSS SoC for wearable devices
At Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, February 24-27, Broadcom will exhibit the BCM4771 GNSS SoC. The company has claimed that this is the industry's first Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) SoC designed for low-power, mass-market wearable devices such as fitness trackers and smart watches.
MMW SoC offers up to 10Gb/s of capacity
A single-chip MMW SoC, optimized for wireless backhaul and fronthaul applications, has been introduced by Broadcom. The company claims that the BCM85100 SoC is the industry's first cost-effective product that offers up to 10 Gbps over single antenna, single channel and single polarization. This, therefore, provides carriers and telecomm equipment manufacturers with a unified millimeter wave solution.
Industry whitepaper discusses the Internet of Things
With the Internet of Things (IoT) set to be a major topic at this year’s Mobile World Congress, Neul has announced an industry whitepaper in conjunction with Machina Research. Titled “The need for low cost, high reach, wide area connectivity for the Internet of Things”, the paper highlights the Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) network technology opportunity and details how and why Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) can be successful serv...
