Chip provides intelligent location technology
Enabling always-on location applications for mobile devices, Broadcom has introduced a GNSS and sensor hub combo chip. By integrating the GNSS chip and sensor hub into a single combo chip, the BCM4773 minimises battery loss and provides mobile devices with intelligent location technology.
Switch provides stable data comms for moving vehicles
An industrial Ethernet switch, designated the TGS-1080-M12, has been launched by ORing. The full-Gigabit switch has a number of features which enable the device to provide stable data communications for moving vehicles. These features include integrated M12 connectors, an IP-40 casing and a temperature range from -40 to 70°C. The switch's 8 ports also make the device suited to rolling stock applications.
Enable cellular, WLAN, Bluetooth & sat nav on one antenna
Preventing harmonic effects from impairing GPS performance in smartphones, the R159 and D5107 FEMs have been unveiled by TDK. Claimed to be best-in-class extractors, the devices enable the coexistence of cellular, WLAN, Bluetooth and satellite navigation services on one antenna.
GPS/GNSS module powers next-gen bike computer
u-blox has announced that the MAX-7 GPS/GNSS module has been integrated into the SporTrek 1305, a next-gen bike computer from Holux. Supporting GPS, GLONASS, QZSS and all SBAS, the compact module targets applications requiring small size, low power, fast acquisition and reliable operation in GPS hostile environments.
Platform of DSPs focuses on wearable computing
To address the growing intelligent processing markets, Microsemi has introduced Timberwolf, a platform of DSPs. The platform, which is available in either a 64-pin QFN package or a 56 pin 3x3 CSP, features a 4 MAC core, hardware accelerators, and two 16-bit DACs.
Automotive resistors offer resistances of 1Ω to 1MΩ
Vishay Intertechnology has announced that the MC AT professional series automotive thin film chip resistors are AEC-Q200 qualified over resistances from 1Ω to 1MΩ. Operating over a temperature range from -55 to +175°C, the resistors are designed to deliver stability under harsh environmental conditions in automotive and industrial applications, rated for 1,000 hours at 175°C.
WiFi plugs help homes evolve into smart environments
Enabling users to turn electrical appliances on and off from wherever they are in the world using a smart phone or tablet, UCam247 have released WiFi Smart Point Plugs (WiSPP). By plugging appliances into WiSPP sockets, users can save energy, cost and time, as well as eliminate the risk of dangers such as fire hazards.
WiFi 2x2 MIMO combo chip targets high-end smartphones
A 5G WiFi 2x2 MIMO combo chip for mobile devices, claimed to be the industry's most powerful, has been released by Broadcom. According to the company, the BCM4358 enables OEMs to design high-end smartphones and tablets with twice the WiFi performance.
Rugged multiradio module supports WiFi & Bluetooth
Suitable for demanding IoT, industrial, vehicle, medical and security applications, u-blox has introduced the ODIN-W160 rugged multiradio module. Supporting dual-band WiFi 2.4 and 5GHz (U-NII bands 1, 2, 2e, 3) and dual-mode Bluetooth v4.0, the device extends battery life operation due to its ultra-low power consumption of 140 and 350mA in receive and transmit modes, respectively.
Qi compliant wireless coils deliver high Q factor & low RDC
Responding to the growing demand for Qi standard devices, Würth Elektronik has introduced two wireless power transmitter coils in the 12V voltage range.
