The new M616x series precision TCXO (temperature compensated crystal oscillator) from Link Microtek features high stability, low vibration-induced phase noise and low power consumption, making it particularly suitable for use in military applications such as avionics systems, portable satellite terminals and radio communications equipment.

Manufactured by MtronPTI, this surface-mount oscillator uses specially processed crystals to achieve a consistent long-term stability of +/- 0.1ppm over the temperature range 0 to 70degC and +/-0.2ppm over the range -40 to 85degC, with minimal frequency shift after reflow.

The TCXO has an operating frequency range of 8 to 52MHz and delivers a low g-sensitivity of 0.6ppb/g, with phase noise typically a very low -156dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset. Drawing only 1.5mA at 13MHz, the device provides a significant advantage over similarly specified OCXOs for power-sensitive applications.

Shock and vibration performance has been tested in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-202, and the oscillator incorporates protection circuitry to guard against damage from electrostatic discharge.  Housed in either a 7 x 5mm 10-pad SMT package or a 14-pin DIP, the M616x is available in 3.0, 3.3 and 5.0V versions and can be specified with a choice of HCMOS or clipped sine wave outputs.
