At the Embedded Design Show, 21st to 22nd October in Coventry, UK, Euroquartz will launch a range of low profile MEMS filter products alongside the company’s latest crystals and oscillators for use in embedded applications from stand F2.

Using the latest MEMS technology, it is possible to produce bandstop and bandpass filter products that offer a very low profile ( 0.5mm) solution. The advantages of Euroquartz MEMS filters are their small size offering high reliability and high performance, covering the range from 2 to 50GHz.

MEMS filter types available include bandpass, bandstop, lowpass, attenuator chip, time-delay line, substrate integrated waveguide and micro-shielding. Offering a low 1dB insertion loss with 30dB at 3.0 and 7.5GHz attenuation they are suited for microwave communication equipment such as base stations, wireless transceiver systems and small size RF front-end requirements.

Euroquartz will also be promoting the company’s recent achievement of AS9100 military & aerospace QA certification following a two year improvement programme. As a UK manufacturer of military crystals, oscillators and filters, the quality of products and services is at the core of Euroquartz’s business success. Achieving the AS9100 quality standard enables the company to demonstrate its commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

In addition, the enhanced AS9100 quality regime certification provides evidence of the company’s capabilities as a high quality manufacturer and supplier of commercial components as well as products for military and aerospace applications.

Incorporating frequency control components in embedded systems is an increasingly common occurrence; Euroquartz produces a wide range of frequency control products for embedded designs including quartz crystals, oscillators, VCXOs and TCXOs. Invariably a small footprint package is required with specification parameters including low current consumption and often custom supply voltages. As an example, the XO22 clock oscillator at 20.0MHz provides a maximum current consumption of 4mA with supply voltages specified from 1.0V.

Another increasingly popular choice of embedded designers is the Euroquartz XOA32 range of low frequency oscillators. These small footprint (3.2x2.5mm) surface mount devices feature AT-cut crystals for high stability and frequency of 32.768kHz for real time clock applications. Frequency stability is ±25, ±50 or ±100ppm over the operating temperature range of -10 to +70°C (commercial) or -40 to +85°C (industrial).

Also on show will be EQ212 ultra-miniature surface mount crystals. These provide frequency output of 32.768kHz in one of the smallest packages available measuring just 2x1.2x0.6mm. EQ212 crystals are designed to provide the smallest possible component size for real time clock applications and their miniature size and rugged construction make them ideal for use in battery-powered and hand-held equipment as well as embedded applications.

The EMS22S series 13 to 52MHz TCXOs will also be shown. Ideal for embedded applications and portable electronics such as GPS and handsets, these ultra-miniature (2.5x2.0x0.8mm) TCXOs offer temperature stability from ±0.5ppm over -20 to +70°C with 1.8, 2.5 or 3.0V supply voltage.

Also on show will be the X21 series ultra-miniature crystals (2.1x1.6x0.6mm) offering frequencies from 20 to 54MHz with high shock and vibration resistance, the X32 series crystals in 3.2 x 2.5 x 0.7mm SMD packages, offering fundamental mode frequencies from 12 to 60MHz with extremely low ageing, and the XO32 series crystal oscillators housed in 3.2x2.5x1.0mm packages offering frequencies from 312kHz to 160MHz with a wide range of supply voltages from 1.0 to 5.0V.
