This October, New Scientist Live will take you on a journey of discovery, turning London’s ExCel Centre into the most exhilarating place on Earth! Jam-packed with talks, discoveries, interactive experiences, workshops and performances that will inspire all ages, New Scientist Live is a must-attend event.

The show is literally bringing science to life. There are over 100 interactive exhibits within five amazing immersive zones.

Cosmos – unravel the wonders of our universe. Fifty years after the moon landing, discover why the moon still matters and explore the lunar surface for yourself in the stunning interactive Museum of the Moon. Extend your cosmic journey with an inspiring line-up of speakers as they explore dark matter, if time travel could be possible and share insights from the first planet discovered from beyond our solar system.

Earth – explore the issues that affect our planet, its creatures and people and find out about the science that will save the planet, The Earth Zone brings to life the challenges our planet is facing every day. A must-see highlight is the Incredible Creatures Feature - an immersive photo exhibit where the British Ecological Society brings to life the sites, sounds and smells of the creatures of our world.

Humans – see your body and mind in a new light and discover how artificial intelligence, robots and 3D printing are transforming the future of healthcare and humanity as we know it. Explore microrobotic surgery, mini organs, personalised cancer treatments and immunotheraphy.

Technology – experience life in the future today and the technologies that will change the way we live our lives and understand the world around us. Be in awe of robots, AI, Twitterbots and quantum technology as expert speakers inspire and re-educate on technologies that are changing what is means to be human.

Engineering – understand what it takes to build our world and see the myriad of ways engineering features in your life without you realising. From dating to baking, be inspired as your understanding and appreciation of engineering is challenged and changed.

Insightful talks and speakers
The world’s greatest scientists share their latest innovations and research and encourage us to expand our minds. More than 120 pioneering and inspirational speakers will take to the stage during the festival including:

  • Space scientist, Maggie Aderin-Pocock on the past, present and future of the moon
  • Mathematician and broadcaster, Hannah Fry looking at how algorithms affect everyday life
  • Geneticist, Robert Plomin on the whether your DNA can predict school performance
  • Materials scientist, Mark Miodownik on the engineering that will really make a difference to the problem of plastic wastes
  • Roboticist, Subramanian Ramamoorthy on whether we can make intelligent robots safely
  • Pollution lecturer and adviser, Dr Benjamin Barratt with unprecedented insights into the air pollution we are breathing in
