Exhibiting at the forthcoming Data Centre World 2014, ExCeL, London, 26-27 February 2014, Yuasa Battery Sales will demonstrate the SWL4250 high capacity 12V industrial valve regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery from stand J60. Suitable for use in UPS and similar high discharge rate applications, the SWL4250 delivers up to 40% extra high-rate discharge capacity compared to standard NPL series batteries.

Featuring a nominal 10 hour rate capacity of 140Ah to 10.8V at 20°C with 10 minute rate constant power of 4,250W to 9.6V at 20°C, the SWL4250 offers standby life expectancy of up to 10 years (design life at 20°C) and high performance EUROBAT classification of 10-12 years. Operating over temperature ranges from 15 to +50°C (charging) and -20 to +60°C (discharging), the VRLA battery features a UL94HB ABS case material as standard with flame retardant option available for UL94V0 applications. Case dimensions are 341x173x281mm high with typical mass of 49kg. Complying with IEC61056 and IEC60896-21/22, the battery can be installed and operated in any orientation except permanently inverted. Additionally, they feature low self-discharge characteristics during storage, maximum discharge current of 840A for 1s or 420A for 1 minute and impedance of 2.7m measured at 1kHz.

Designed for use in telecommunications, datacentre and UPS applications, the FXH range will also be demonstrated by Yuasa at the show. Operating over temperature ranges from -15 to +50°C (discharging) and -15 to +45°C (charging and storage), the VRLA rechargeable batteries are available in seven models with capacities of 45, 90, 100, 140, 180, 190 and 200Ah (8hr rate except 90, 100 and 200 models at 10hr rate). Additionally, the batteries feature flame retardant ABS case material (UL94V0). Simplifying maintenance and replacement of batteries, the front terminal design of the FXH series makes it easier for engineers to connect multiple batteries in power systems: with terminals only at the front of a standby system, engineers can simply slide out and replace a cell without having to reach over multiple cells and connect top terminals.

The company’s Endurance EN and ENL series batteries will also be on show. Designed for use in all standby applications, the ENL100-12FT features a 15 year design life and is designed from the ground up to fit into standard telecom equipment racks. Both terminals are at the front of the cell to simplifiy connecting batteries in power cabinets, and, additionally, the battery shape differs from standard designs being longer and narrower so that just a single row of batteries is required in a telecoms rack. These batteries feature a nominal voltage of 12V with nominal capacity of 100Ah at 20°C to 10.8V and standby life expectancy of 15 years at 2.26V/cell float charge at 20°C. With dimensions of 558x125x233mm and a mass of 41kg, they feature M6 female threaded stud terminal and UL94V0 flame retardant ABS case material (Oxygen index 30). Compliant with IEC61056 and IEC60896-21/22, the VRLA design enables its use in any orientation except permanently inverted.
