Workshops on the development of safety critical & certified software

The UK Device Developers' Conference is a one-day conference for engineers and computer scientists involved in the development of intelligent systems and devices. This is an event that explores the very latest tools and technologies available and includes a vendor exhibition, half-day technical workshops and a series of informative technical presentations.

Organisers of this year's UK Device Developers' Conference have announced that there will be workshops and presentations relating to the development of safety critical and certified software. In addition to this, several of the companies exhibiting at this year's Conference will be available to discuss topics such as the DO-178, IEC61508 and ISO 26262 standards.

"For an engineer that is having to embark on a project that needs to be highly reliable, then this Conference should prove very informative,” said Richard Blackburn, Conference Organiser. “Whether it’s the choice of operating system, hardware, debug tools or certification tool, there will be a number of industry experts sharing their knowledge and experience.”

Lauterbach and LDRA will be presenting a half-day workshop; Catch Software Errors Before It’s Too Late for Certification. This workshop will show how to simplify code analysis, test and certification for resource constrained applications. The workshop will also explain how to quickly assess the impact of identified failures and unexpected results. The workshop will also explore automated testing processes and methodologies to achieve certifiable, high-quality software.

Michael Pont of SafeTTy Systems Ltd will also present a half-day workshop: Developing Safe and Secure Embedded Systems Using TT Architectures. Delegates will learn how to model TT systems, with several worked examples, and will get involved in the design and development of a generic, safety-related Electronic Control Unit; they will consider how to model, build and run-time monitor the system. The techniques explored will be readily applicable across a wide range of sectors including Aerospace, Medical and Industrial.

An industry expert from Esterel Technologies will give a presentation also: The Impact of a Certified Toolset in a High Integrity Software Development Environment. This presentation will discuss that working to any of the key software standards such as DO-178C, EN50128, ISO26262 or IEC61508 drives onerous changes into the V cycle design process. This talk will demonstrate that using a qualified or certified toolset can dramatically streamline and automate many of the steps, as well as build quality and best practice into the design.

The Device Developers’ Conference is to take place in Reading, Cambridge, Manchester and Uphall during May and June 2015.
