This year’s CWIEME Berlin will take place across six halls at the Messe Berlin, Germany from 5th to 7th May 2015. After 19 years of continuous growth, the show is anticipating record attendance from engineers, designers, buyers and academics in the global automotive, energy, consumer electronics, industrial machinery, military and aerospace sectors with advance registration figures already going strong.

“CWIEME Berlin allows you to speak with current and future customers and suppliers in one place, saving weeks of research and meetings,” said Haf Cennydd, Portfolio Director, i2i Events Group. “It’s been described by visitors before as ‘the Google of the coil winding and electrical manufacturing community’, a real-life search engine that puts manufacturers directly in touch with all the partners they’re looking for.”

Last year’s CWIEME Berlin welcomed more than 6,500 visitors from 78 counties and saw a 31% increase in the number of design engineers attending the show, as well as a 15% increase in visitor seniority. Moreover, 92% of attendees were in a position to authorise or recommend purchases, making it an opportune event for generating new leads and new business, as well as cementing existing customer-supplier relationships.

In 2015 over 70 new suppliers will be taking part. Newcomers such as Efaflu from Portugal, Schaffroth from Germany, Raytech from Switzerland, Winding and More from Italy, plus Zhejiang Innuovo Magnetics from China, and Aichi Steel from Japan will join regulars ABB, Alstom, Elektrisola, Eurotranciatura, Hidria, Ruff, Superior Essex, Voestalpine and Von Roll on the show’s 750-strong exhibitor roster. Visitors will be able to find everything from electrical steels, permanent magnets, laminations and insulating oils, to wires and cables, winding machines and welding equipment all under one roof.

New for 2015, CWIEME Berlin will also include an MRO zone, dedicated to the maintenance, repair and operation of electrical equipment and components.

CWIEME Berlin is not just about buying and selling, however. It’s also a place to network and learn about industry trends and technical advances. The exhibition includes a schedule of free-to-attend seminar sessions on the latest developments in the electrical manufacturing world from material, component and application design, to market analysis and manufacturing processes, all delivered by experts in their fields.

This year’s line-up will include Dr. Régis Lemaître, Head of Research and Technology and Dr. Thierry Belgrand, Head of Application Technology at ThyssenKrupp Electrical Steel, as well as Kevin Biggie, New Product Development Engineer, and Francis Fisher, Sales Director at Weidmann.
Chloe Theobald, Content Manager, CWIEME commented: “The CWIEME Central seminar programme is such an important part of the show, rivalling that of many commercially-run conferences, and it’s entirely free. The content is specifically designed to fill potential audience knowledge gaps and help visitors discover solutions to technical issues they might never have even thought of.”

The full seminar schedule will be announced at the end of February, with topics likely to include Industry 4.0, 3D printing, increased automation and the IoT, alongside pathways to progress in e-mobility, and the increased momentum in 2015 for efficiency standards across the motor and transformer manufacturing sectors.

Another new feature for 2015, CWIEME Workshop, will offer drop-in sessions with industry experts for engineers looking for practical design solutions and advice.

CWIEME Berlin 2015 also sees the launch of CWIEME Challenge, an initiative aimed at bringing together the businesses of today with the electrical engineers of tomorrow. Students from academic institutions around the world are invited to present their projects in the CWIEME Challenge Hub, both in poster form and on stage in a live final. The winner will receive a €1,000 travel prize, while all finalists gain valuable exposure to potential employers.

“Whether you are looking for talented new recruits, academic partnerships for your next business venture, or just a burst of inspiration, come along to the CWIEME Challenge Hub to expand your network and stay linked in to the next big thing,” said Hannah Redfern, CWIEME Challenge Coordinator.
