Kontron has extended the portfolio of its FlatClient and FlatView HMI series. Kontron's industrial monitors and Panel PCs featuring high-performance processors are now available as stainless steel (STS) version for use in environments with high hygiene requirements, as CTR version specifically designed for control rooms and as RCK version for rackmount.

All new versions are available immediately and can be optionally equipped with PCAP touchscreens or protection glass. The monitors and Panel PCs are fanless and highly resistant to shocks and vibrations to sustainably withstand even harsh industrial conditions.

Kontron's Panel PCs and monitors available as STS version feature a non-corrosive, scratch-proof IP65 stainless steel front, an easy to clean glass surface and special seals between the frame and the display.

The display is optionally available as either projected capacitive touchscreen (PCAP) or protection glass option. All front materials are suitable for application in the food sector. Consequently, the built-in versions of the devices are ready for use in the food and pharmaceutical industry.

They are ideally suited for SCADA and MES applications as well as other visualisation tasks in sensitive environments. The displays are available in 16:9 widescreen format or 4:3 and 5:4 standard format with display sizes of 10.4 to 23.8in.

In addition, the modular design of the stainless steel version can be customised to match individual requirements and ensure a high degree of flexibility.

The FlatClient CTR and FlatView CTR models are specifically designed for control stations and use in control rooms and are dust and splash-proof to comply with IP54 protection class. The HMIs feature a very light metal housing which encloses the glass panel with a narrow frame.

Thanks to this narrow frame, the presentation is clear, specifically when several devices are positioned side by side in-line as it is usually the case with monitoring applications and control panels. In addition, the CTR series devices can easily be attached to monitor pedestals.

The LPC4 controller allows the control of settings such as brightness and contrast either of one or of several monitors simultaneously from just one computer via the local network.

Kontron offers standard display sizes of 18.5in (with a resolution of 1366x768px) and 21.5in (with a resolution of 1920x1080px); other dimensions are available on request. Anti-glare display panels, optionally with PCAP functionality or protection glass ensure good legibility even in poor lighting conditions.

The FlatClient and FlatView HMIs RCK versions are specifically designed to be mounted in 19in standard racks. The displays, optionally available with PCAP or protection glass, finish flush with the metal housing so that the available space can be utilised efficiently. The HMIs come in full metal housing to ensure robustness and suitability for use close to machines.

Kontron's FlatClient Panel PC product family offers two different lines: the ECO Line utilises Intel Celeron and/or Intel Pentium Quad CoreT processors, while the PRO Line is equipped with Intel CoreT i5 CPUs. They feature RFID and Wi-Fi interfaces by default.

Depending on the processor in use, Kontron's FlatClient Panel PCs feature a variety of connections: up to three Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ports, one HDMI, one VGA, up to two display ports and a maximum of four USB 3.0 ports. Support for the operating systems varies with the processor: Windows 7, Windows 8.1 including its embedded versions, Windows 10 IoT and Linux.

Both lines can be optionally equipped with two serial ports (RS232, RS422, RS485), one CF/SD card reader, one audio interface and additional RAM, SD card and mSATA memory; different types of mass storage drives (SSD) can be configured.

The FlatClient family supports Kontron's Security Solution APPROTECT. In tandem with a specifically developed software framework, it provides full IP and copy/reverse engineering protection through a WIBU-Systems security chip.

Additionally, Kontron's APPROTECT Licensing enables new business models such as 'pay per use' or time-based trial versions, as it can be used to easily enable or disable features via a predetermined set of variables. For secure cloud connectivity, a TPM 2.0 Security Chip is integrated.
