At this year's electronica, Electronic Assembly will be show a starter kit that allows you to quickly explore and enter the world of intelligent display. The kit comprises an evaluation board for the EA eDIPTFT43-ATP display type as well as a USB cable, touch panel, and mini DVD containing software, documentation, and sample macros.
The evaluation board contains a USB connection for communicating with the PC and additional, optional interfaces such as RS-232, I²C, and SPI for networking with the host computer of the target application. An external power supply is not required. A series of LEDs provides information about the data traffic and status of the eight digital outputs on the display. The evaluation board features two potentiometers and eight buttons to simulate sensors, switches, or relay contacts in the target application.

The installation DVD included is very comprehensive and offers documentation for the different displays, development software, and several macro examples and layout templates. The source text editor for creating custom macros integrates further programs (e.g. a compiler, a terminal program, a bitmap editor, and an editor for creating virtual measuring instruments) via icons.
The touchscreen, which has a built-in buzzer for touch-based feedback, can also be used to group the controls on the display to create a high-quality user interface.
