Zuken today launched as part of its take-care strategy a new version of its CADSTAR PCB design software called CADSTAR Lite. Designers working on smaller scale projects no longer need to be weighed down with complexity that they don’t need – now they can buy a simplified package to match the size of their projects and wallet.
Our designs have many common building blocks and CADSTAR allows us to use this to our advantage to produce new product designs quickly and accurately. We had been looking to change our design software when we found out about CADSTAR Lite. After discovering the vast functionality it provides, we couldn’t turn down the opportunity to get Zuken’s technology plus email support from the local distributor, at such a competitive price - so we immediately bought two seats! We will be looking to upgrade in the future, but for now CADSTAR Lite provides us with a breadth of capabilities for everything we need and more, said Cliff Brown, Design Engineer from Blackstar Amplification, specialists in cutting-edge guitar amplification design and production.

There is a segment of the market that has been crying out for PCB design software that does what it says, and is within their small business budgets. We recognize that a one size fits all strategy has its limitations – that’s why we’ve introduced CADSTAR Lite, said Jeroen Leinders, CADSTAR distribution manager.

The CADSTAR Lite bundle includes a schematic editor, PCB design editor that has a maximum capability of 2000 pins/pads, a place and route editor with unlimited numbers of interactive routing layers, library editor and access to the online library of over 250,000 components, plus ODBC-compliant database support and a datasheet publisher. Pricing starts at less than two euros/dollars per day.
