The tool RiskCAT provides support for applying ISO 26262. RiskCAT 26262 allows to determine the ASIL (“Automotive Safety Integrity Level“) and indicates for every possible measure of ISO 26262 the degree of obligation (“recommended“, “highly recommended“, etc.).
ISO 26262 is related to safety-critical electric/electronic devices in the automotive area. It is a derivation of IEC 61508. Since a few weeks it is available as draft. The release as an international standard is planned for 2011. In spite of being a “Draft International Standard“ (DIS) at the moment, it is in use already, because products, which will enter the market after ISO 26262 is effective, are under development nowadays.

RisKCAT enables filtering measures of the standard for certain aspects, annotating measures, selecting measures for use, and to compile measures to (check) lists. Furthermore, RiskCAT displays the exact text of the standard for a given measure, or the explanations of the standard to a certain measure. The necessary text of the standard is included with RiskCAT, but for reason of licensing, currently only the first third of each of the 10 parts the standard consists of, is delivered. This restriction will end beginning of 2010; then the complete text of the standard will be provided.

A separate supplement to RiskCAT allows comparing ISO 26262 to IEC 61508. Further options are interfaces from RiskCAT to Artisan Studio, Doors, Caliber, and QualiCAT.

RiskCAT is available from Hitex Development Tools GmbH.
