PROFINET tool includes all necessary hardware & software

Featuring all the hardware, software and demonstration programmes customers need to start their own developments on a PROFINET network, the Connect it! - TPS-1 Solution Kit has been introduced by Renesas Electronics Europe. The kit is a complete evaluation tool for the TPS-1PROFINET Isochronous Real Time (IRT) device chip.

The solution includes not only the hardware and the royalty-free PROFINET IRT stack, but also all of the software tools and drivers required to manage the PROFINET gateway solution, allowing customers to develop a PROFINET reference solution quickly.

The TPS-1 itself, a V850ES/JH3-H CPU and a Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) are the major hardware components of the TPS-1 Solution Kit. The CPLD is not necessarily required for the system, however, it provides customers with the flexibility to connect alternative CPUs or to operate the TPS-1 in the no-host IO mode with the same board hardware.

The kit offers standard 100BASE-TX or optional FX connections on the network side. On the system side, the solution provides access to the TPS-1 via its I/Os, the V850ES and its built-in peripherals, or any other CPU that can be connected to the starter kit board using the RSK interface. A multi-purpose LCD display and multiple connectors and test points are offered with the TPS-1 Solution Kit. The kit is provided with UART, USB device, AD/DA and GPIOs interfaces, which are configurable for alternative IO functions.

The TPS-1 PROFINET IRT device, which Renesas has developed in cooperation with Siemens and Phoenix Contact, offers low power consumption, easy integration options, small board space requirements and robust silicon implementation.

Renesas will be exhibiting the Connect it! - TPS-1 Solution Kit in A6.243 at electronica 2014, which takes place from 11th to 14th November in Munich.
