As part of its continual enhancements to the OMAP35x evaluation module from Texas Instruments Incorporated, Mistral Solutions has successfully launched the Multimedia Daughter Card for the OMAP35x EVM.
The MDC, a plug-in card for the OMAP35x EVM, supports both video and camera input in addition to a high-speed USB 2.0 port. The card plugs into the expansion connector present on the main board of the OMAP35x EVM.

Key Features of the MDC

Multimedia Daughter CardThe MDC enables users to capture video, via S-Video, composite or component inputs, which can be processed by the OMAP3530 application processor.

The card provides a HSUSB HOST port and a camera connector to support camera input. Additionally, the MDC provides provision to support future daughter cards.

“The Multimedia Daughter Card is a much awaited addition to the OMAP35x EVM,” said Samyeer Metrani, VP-Design Services (USA), and Mistral Solutions. “The addition of multimedia video input enhances the functionality to the EVM by allowing customers who want to prototype devices with camera capabilities.”

The latest release of the OMAP35x Digital Video Software Development Kit (DVSDK) supports the MDC features and provides a complete development environment with audio and video codecs to simplify and accelerate the development of multimedia-based devices.

Mistral also offers customized product realization services to help customers adapt these features in their end-product design and help them take their designs to production.
