Expanding its support for the low-power RX111 microcontrollers from Renesas, IAR Systems has unveiled the IAR KickStart Kit for RX111. Based on the Renesas Promotion Board, the KickStart Kit can be used to evaluate the tools and the microcontroller, and also to design, develop, integrate and test applications.

IAR KickStart Kit for RX111 includes evaluation versions of the IAR Embedded Workbench for RX embedded development toolchain.

Featuring a combination of ultra-low power consumption, on-chip connectivity and high performance, the RX111 group of microcontrollers are designed to support a broad range of applications where energy efficiency and low power consumption are critical. This includes applications in markets such as mobile healthcare, smart meters and sensors.

Taking full advantage of the ultra-low-power and high performance features of the RX111 microcontrollers, the powerful optimisation technology of IAR Embedded Workbench will enable users to achieve the fastest performing code.

IAR KickStart Kit for RX111 is supplied with a 64KB-limited license and a time-limited license of IAR Embedded Workbench for RX. The embedded development toolchain includes powerful build tools and a feature-rich debugger integrated in a user-friendly development environment. A migration guide and project converter are also included for easily transferring projects from Renesas e2 studio to IAR Embedded Workbench.

The kit features a variety of example applications and a a low-power demo with a graphical user interface from Renesas that allows developers to measure the power consumption of the target board in each of its low-power modes. The board features on-chip J-Link debug functionality, an on-chip USB interface, PMOD and Energy Harvesting connectors and a wide range of digital and analogue peripherals.

Available now from IAR Systems’ e-shop, the IAR KickStart Kit for RX111 is priced at $15 (USD) or €12 (EUR).
