Providing an easy and fast way for implementing Ethernet in a broad range of products, Lantiq and Würth Elektronik announce a jointly developed demonstration kit. The Evaluation Kit eases adding Ethernet hardware to an application or device and provides all necessary information to understand the demands of an Ethernet hardware design.

In addition an easy to use and ready 1Gb/s demonstration board is included. With the new kit customers can smoothly expand their existing applications like stoves, coffee machines, telephones, dishwashers, etc., with 1 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. By implementing Ethernet, the manufacturers not only get Internet functionality, but in addition an easy, standardised connection to plug service and maintenance devices.

The small demo board has the size of a credit card (54x92mm) and is powered by USB. Customers can easily plug the board to their PCs and instantly experience data rates of up to 1Gb/s bi-directional. Using the XWAY PHY11G in a very small VQFN-48 package (7x7mm) from Lantiq, energy can be saved due to IEEE’s energy efficient Ethernet standard.

The kit relies on the field proven Lantiq Gigabit Ethernet technology with best in class energy efficiency, highest integration and smallest form factor. The overall solution with the leading Ethernet and passive components from Würth Elektronik proves that Internet/Ethernet connectivity can be realised with less than $3 (USD) additional bill of material in high quantities.

The "High Speed Connection to the World" kit can be directly ordered for €129 each.
