6GHz WiFi will bring radical change to global capacity
The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) supports the decision by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to open up the 6GHz frequency band for use by WiFi 6 technology. It declared the release of the spectrum would bring radical change for the WiFi industry in terms of service speed, hyper low latency and more importantly, network capacity.
Massive potential of WiFi 6E in the 6GHz band
Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the worldwide industry body dedicated to improving WiFi services and standards, has announced the first phase of WiFi 6E trials showing multi-Gigabit speeds and the low-latency connections required for the next generation of connectivity.
IoT Solutions World Congress becomes hotspot for WiFi experts
The importance of WiFi technology to IoT deployments was emphasised with the announcement that this year’s IoT Solutions World Congress in Barcelona (Spain) would also host the 2020 European edition of the Wireless Global Congress. Both technology events will be jointly held from 27th to 29th October in the Gran Via venue, according to the partnership between the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) and Fira de Barcelona.
First phase WiFi 6 industry 4.0 trials successful
The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the body leading development of next generation WiFi services, today confirmed the successful completion of its phase one trial of WiFi 6 infrastructure and services at the Mettis Aerospace factory in the UK. The trial was the first of its kind in the world and an important part of the WBA’s WiFi 6 test and development program.

According to the company, the trial was the first of its kind in the world and an important part of the WBA’s WiFi 6 test and development programme.
WiFi 6 guidelines released to assist cities with deployments
In preparation for the impending release of next-gen WiFi technology later this year, the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has released a new whitepaper that provides deployment guidelines for a number of possible scenarios utilising WiFi 6 technology. With the recent whitepaper release, operators, enterprises and cities now have the tools needed to embrace and deploy WiFi 6 when it’s released later this year.
Monetisation opportunities now available for telematic vehicles
Automobile manufacturers globally that have integrated telematics into their vehicles can utilise WiFi today and generate significant revenue for a number of use cases, including predictive maintenance and repairs, as well as Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware updates. These new use cases and more are detailed in the newest whitepaper from the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA): The Connected Vehicle: Understanding The WiFi Opportunities And Use Cases.
WiFi 6 to demonstrate delivery of transformation for Industry 4.0
The Wireless Broadband Alliance, has announced the WiFi 6 Industrial Enterprise and IoT trial, as part of its ongoing WiFi 6 program. Mettis Aerospace, a designer and manufacturer of precision-forged, machined and sub-assembled components, primarily for the aerospace and defence industry, will work with WBA members to test several use cases on a WiFi 6 network.
Alliance to address RAN convergence opportunities
The first results of the collaboration between NGMN and Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) to drive the convergence of multi-technology RANs and core networks has been published. The report identifies a number of emerging opportunities and use cases that the industry can benefit from through the convergence of 3GPP’s 5G and WiFi, driven by the capabilities of licenced and unlicensed technologies.
