The contactor incorporates a patented design that does away with the standard charging station approach of using inert gases in a hermetically sealed zone to prevent explosions when an excess current or voltage is applied.

The product extends TE’s range of Generation Y connectors that can be used in HEV batteries. The Generation Y HV connectors support a signal current range from 4 to 10.5A and a voltage rating of up to 432V.
