8-bit microcontroller targets automotive and industrial applications

Toshiba adds High Performance SDHC and High Capacity microSD Cards

Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has announced the latest enhancement to its extensive line-up of SD Memory Cards: a 4-gigabyte (GB) Class 6 SDHC Card; a 4GB Class 4 miniSDHC Card; and a 2GB microSD Memory Card. The new SDHC and miniSDHC cards will be available worldwide from March, and the microSD will be launched worldwide during April.

High Capacity 8GB SDHC Memory Card from Toshiba

Designated TLCS-870/C1, the new core is capable of processing one instruction cycle in a single clock cycle, enabling faster processing at lower frequencies, reduced noise and lower power consumption compared with Toshiba’s previous 8-bit core. Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced that Daewoo Electronics will use its system-on-chip digital video broadcast MPEG decoding solution in the company’s first dual stream personal video recorder (PVR). Due to launch in the UK in August and the rest of Europe later in the year, the new Daewoo PVR will use the Toshiba SoC to deliver enhanced functionality that includes the facility for simultaneous output of video to two external devices.

Toshiba has announced the development of a new TFT-LCD that delivers high transmittance, a wide viewing angle and high speed response by combining Optically Compensated Bend (OCB) and Field Sequential technologies. Field Sequential technology does not require colour filters, differing from general colour LCDs.
