Toshiba announces ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller

Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has announced a general-purpose ARM Cortex-M3 core-based microcontroller suitable for digital AV applications. The device is the first in a full line-up of Cortex-M3 devices that will become available during 2009 and is the first ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller from a Japanese semiconductor manufacturer. Samples will be available in December 2008 and mass production will start in March 2009.

Toshiba launches 256GB solid state drives

Toshiba has announced enhancements to its line-up of NAND-Flash-based solid state drives (SSD) with the addition of an industry-leading density of 256-gigabyte (GB) SSD and the launch of a series of small-sized Flash Modules for netbook computers ultra-mobile PCs (UMPCs) and other mobile and peripheral applications. Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has announced the first products from its new DTMOS II family of rugged, high-efficiency, high-speed power MOSFETs. The new 600V power MOSFETs combine a very low on resistance (RDS(on)) and reduced gate charge (Qg) to deliver an RDS(on) x Qg ‘figure of merit’ that is 15% lower than the company’s existing DTMOS I range and 68% lower than conventional MOSFET s.
