Bloodhound catches the scent of a world record

The Bloodhound Land Speed Record (LSR) team revealed the car aiming to claim a new World Land Speed Record next year, seen for the first time in completed desert spec as it begins its high speed testing programme in the Hakskeenpan desert, Northern Cape, South Africa.

Bloodhound LSR – back on the road to making history

The Bloodhound Land Speed Record team is in a celebratory mood, having successfully completed the crucial high speed testing phase of the programme, during which it notched eye-watering speeds of 628mph / 1,010km/h. This places the Bloodhound LSR car, unofficially, as the sixth fastest car of all time.

Bloodhound LSR to run at Hakskeen Pan track in Autumn 2019

The Bloodhound Land Speed Record project today announced plans to run the Bloodhound LSR car for the first time on its dry lake bed race track at Hakskeen Pan, Northern Cape, South Africa, in October 2019. Following successful 200mph (320km/h) UK runway trials at Cornwall Airport Newquay in October 2017, the team will be targeting 500mph (800km/h) – a key milestone on the journey to setting a new world land speed record.

South Africa set to see speeds of 500mph with the BLOODHOUND

Plans to run BLOODHOUND SSC for the first time on its dry lake bed race track at Hakskeen Pan, Northern Cape, South Africa, in October 2018 have been announced by the BLOODHOUND Project team. Seven days to the 200mph test

  It’s just over a week until the BLOODHOUND Supersonic car will make its 200mph debut at Cornwall Airport Newquay.  Driver Andy Green will make two passes along the runway, using an EJ200 jet engine to power the car to 200mph in c. 9 seconds.

BLOODHOUND is a go!

At Cornwall Airport Newquay this October, the BLOODHOUND SSC, the world’s most advanced straight-line racing car, will be driven twenty years after the current record of 763.035mph was set. Wing Commander Andy Green steered Thrust SSC to victory on 15th October 1997 and will be at the wheel of BLOODHOUND SSC as it is put through its paces this autumn.

Back on track for world record attempt

It has been confirmed that the world’s fastest car is heading over to South Africa in October 2017 for its first high speed run, which means that it is all systems go for the Bloodhound SSC project team at Poynting Antennas. South Africa based Poynting Antennas designed, tested and built the tailfin-antenna that will live stream both the 2017 attempt and the ultimate record breaking attempt somewhere in 2018.

Cockpit of BLOODHOUND SSC revealed

The cockpit of BLOODHOUND SSC, the 1,000m/h land speed racing car, was unveiled last week in Bristol, UK. The state-of-the-art carbon fibre monocoque has been tailored to the needs of driver Andy Green and will be his supersonic office during record attempts in the South African desert in 2015 and 2016.

Comms system prepared for 1,000mph record attempt

The BLOODHOUND project, led by Director Richard Noble and with Andy Green in the driving seat, aims to break the 1,000mph (1,609km/h) barrier, in the process obliterating Green's current world land speed record of 763mph set by Noble's own Thrust SSC Team in 1997. Last autumn, an Aero L-39 Albatros jet flew multiple passes down BLOODHOUND’s specially prepared South African desert track, synchronised with Jaguar's all-wheel-drive F-TYPE...
