What is the future of VR & AR for businesses?
At London’s TechXLR8 trade show which took place 13th to 15th June 2017, David MacQueen, Executive Director, Apps and Media, Strategy Analytics, gave a talk entitled ‘Harnessing VR & AR enterprise opportunities’. Strategy Analytics predicts that half a billion VR headsets will be on the market by 2022, and that this sector will be dominated by low cost smartphone VR. On the other hand, while niche in terms of volume, many enterprises use PC-based VR and this accounts for 40% of total VR & AR revenue.

Tablet screen sizes expanding as iPad Pro approaches

Large screen sizes are gaining favour as the tablet transforms into a productivity device, with shipments growing 185% year-on-year in 2015. According to a recent Strategy Analytics’ Tablet & Touchscreen Strategies (TTS) report, Apple’s iPad Pro will join a market that is primed for growth, thanks to the success of Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 and larger 2-in-1 detachable tablets from traditional PC vendors like Lenovo, Acer and Asus.

2-in-1 tablets to become more popular than slate tablets

According to a recent report published by Strategy Analytics, 2-in-1 tablets will become more popular than slate tablets. The report, titled Tablet & Touchscreen Strategies, argues that traditional PC vendors such as Asus, Acer, and HP have found a niche with 2-in-1 tablets, allowing them to compete against mobile device heavyweights.
