STB platform supports Android TV 5.0 Lollipop

'World's first' ARM Cortex-M7 MCU produces 1000CoreMarks

STMicroelectronics has introduced an extension of its STM32 family of MCUs with the STM32 F7 MCU series, leveraging the ARM Cortex-M7 core, which is hailed as ARM’s most powerful Cortex-M processor. The STM32 F7 series leapfrogs the industry’s previous high-performance 32-bit Cortex-M leader, ST's STM32 F4, delivering up to twice as much processing and DSP performance that is accessible via a seamless upgrade path.

RF power transistor features 20:1 load-mismatch capability

Designed for high-output class-E industrial power supplies, the STAC250V2-500E 13.6MHz RF power transistor has been released by STMicroelectronics. Providing enhanced safety up to 600W, the device has 20:1 load-mismatch capability, which is claimed to be the highest in the industry. Enabling compact power supplies above 1kW, two STAC250V2-500E transistors used together occupy a similar area to that of a single ceramic transistor.

Bipolar transistors feature proven robustness to radiation

A range of Defense Logistics Agency-qualified JANSR bipolar transistors, suitable for aerospace and Hi-Rel systems, has been released by STMicroelectronics. The JANSR+ series, which has been added to the company's existing JANS / JANSR products, consists of 100krad JANSR high-dose-rate bipolar transistors with an additional 100krad low-dose-rate (100mrad/s) test performed on each wafer.

Digital Power MCUs improve cloud efficiency

The STM32F334 series of Digital Power microcontrollers from STMicroelectronics could enable the cloud supporting the digital economy to become significantly more energy-efficient. By providing all major power-control functions in a single chip, the MCUs simplify the transition to energy-efficient digital power supplies, such as multi-phase interleaved or resonant soft-switching.

Smart-meter ICs improve billing accuracy

Enabling utility companies to improve billing by accurately measuring down to extremely low power levels, the STPM32, STPM33 and STPM34 ICs have been unveiled by STMicroelectronics. Meters which incorporate these devices will help utilities minimise revenue losses and ensure consistent billing by keeping the meter accuracy down to just a few milliamps - comparable to the current drawn by an LED television in standby.
