Supersize IR detector for space observation programmes

  Sofradir has announced it is developing its first very large format (2048x2048) 15µm-pitch infrared detector. The supersize IR detector is designed for future scientific space observation equipment and Extremely Large Telescopes (ELT) for ground observation aimed at tackling major scientific challenges.

Sofradir delivers 24 IR detectors for ESA mission

Sofradir has delivered 24 ShortWave IR (SWIR) detectors to Airbus Defence and Space (ADS) for the European Space Agency (ESA) Sentinel-2 land monitoring and food security studies mission. ADS provided two MultiSpectral Imagers (MSI) for the Sentinel-2 mission that offer high-resolution IR optical imagery. They will provide high-resolution optical imaging to monitor the Earth and thereby provide continuity for the SPOT and Landsat missions.

Sofradir secures first contract win from Indian space agency

Sofradir announces today that ISRO/SAC, the Indian Space Research Organization’s Space Applications Centre in Ahmedabad has awarded Sofradir a 2.5 year infrared detector contract. Under the contract, Sofradir will develop large format infrared detector prototypes for testing and will deliver numerous flight models. The value of the contract is undisclosed.
