The Science Museum and Magdrive, a UK space company, announced a competition for children to design the mission patch for Magdrive’s first in-orbit test mission of its prototype thruster.

Curator Ben Russell's dream is to rebuild the UK’s first robot, Eric. Built in 1928, Eric holds a unique place in our history. He was everything we now imagine a robot to be – a talking, moving mechanical person. But then Eric disappeared and no-one knows what happened to him.

Children will be given the chance to meet the original Robot Scientist in a series of demonstrations at London’s Science Museum. Dr Larisa Soldatova, from Brunel University London’s computer science department, will join academic colleagues to demonstrate just what ADAM, a machine who thinks and does experiments like a human scientist, is capable of.
