ROHM Semiconductor will debut its latest power product designs at PCIM, the leading trade fair for Power Electronics, Intelligent Motion and Energy Management in Nuremberg, from May 16 – 18, 2017 (Hall 9, Booth 316). Energy savings and reduced system costs in all kinds of systems are heavily influenced by choosing the right power device.

Believed to be the first DC/DC converter that is capable of DC fan motor speed control, the BD9227F reduces real estate demands (Visit PCIM Europe 2017 Stand 9-316). Designed to benefit integrated design, with a 75% reduction in mounting area compared with that of discrete configurations, the buck DC/DC converter is optimised for DC fan motor power supplies used in applications such as cold air circulation in refrigerators, says Rohm.

The availability of a new thermal printhead has been announced by ROHM designed for receipt printers in payment terminals capable of being driven by a single-cell li-ion battery. Thermal printheads are electronic devices that print on special media (i.e. thermal paper) by precisely and repeatedly generating and dissipating heat. Conventional thermal printheads for payment terminals are driven by 2-cell li-ion batteries.

The BH1790GLC leverages proprietary analog circuit technology and optical sensor expertise to improve sensitivity, allowing pulse waves to be detected with high accuracy, even with low LED brightness, resulting in class-leading low power consumption.

ROHM, imec, the world-leading research and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies, and Holst Centre (set up by imec and TNO) today presented an all-digital phase-locked loop (ADPLL) for Internet-of-Things (IoT) radio transceivers at the 2017 International Solid-State Circuits Conference in San Francisco (US). 

ROHM has recently announced the availability of an ultra-compact reflector-type LED optimised for consumer devices such as matrix light sources for gaming and wearables that demand increased miniaturisation. The MSL0402RGBU reflector-type 3-color LED leverages miniaturisation technology cultivated over many years to achieve the smallest size in the industry (1.8mmx1.6mm).

After having released the KNX software technology for the ERLTM (Emetteur Radio Linky) for the pilot project Smart Electric Lyon, Gossé & Tech Tapko has provided the first KNX RF Stack on RF multi and security for push-button configuration.   Chipsets designed to drive and control automotive LCDs have been announced by ROHM and LAPIS Semiconductor. These include larger high resolution monitors used for navigation and the instrument cluster.

  A sensor evaluation kit (expansion board) has been announced by ROHM which is equipped with seven sensors (i.e. accelerometer, barometric pressure, magnetic field), designed for use with existing open-source prototyping platforms such as Arduino and mbed.

The development of high voltage Zener diodes optimised for protection and constant current applications in a variety of electronic circuits has been announced by ROHM. The UDZLV and KDZLV series are comprised of 12 models in Zener voltages ranging from 51-150V. 

  The availability of reference boards designed to evaluate its high voltage fan motor drivers has been announced by ROHM. They achieve greater efficiency and simplify inverter configuration in home appliances such as ceiling fans and ACs. 

  At SPS in Nuremberg from November 22nd-24th 2016, ROHM Semiconductor presents its Arduino-based Evaluation Kit (EVK) to support the evaluation of its motor driver devices as well as to enable, facilitate and accelerate customers’ developments (Hall 1 - Booth 320).
