QPT, a pioneer in the development of highly efficient GaN-based controls for electric motors, has surpassed the £1 million milestone in its Crowdcube funding campaign.

The second Co-founder of GaN Systems, Girvan Patterson, has joined his fellow Co-founder, Geoff Haynes, as an Advisor at QPT. Patterson was CEO at GaN Systems Inc (now part of Infineon) for over eight years and has been the founder of three major start-ups and seven IPOs and M&A transactions.

QPT has announced the appointment of Rupert Baines as its CEO, effective from 1 April 2024. Baines brings a wealth of experience from the semiconductor industry, having held C-level positions, including Chief Executive Officer at UltraSoC (acquired by Siemens) and Chief Marketing Officer at Codasip.

QPT has announced that it has won the ABB Power Density Start-up Challenge 2023 for Motor Drive Products.

QPT reports that it is rapidly growing its team of advisers with the addition of another GaN expert.

One of the pioneers of GaN technology, Geoff Haynes, who co-founded GaN Systems Inc. is joining QPT’s team as an advisor.

The finalists in this year’s Elektra Awards have been announced and QPT Limited is a finalist in both the Startup of the Year and the Power System Product of the Year categories.

QPT Limited recently announced that it has created the drive, control, and sense technologies to maximise GaN transistor performance and overcome design challenges in the 100 kHz to 20 MHz frequency range for high-power and high-voltage applications that use hard switching.
