Power-One has announced that it has agreed to a license transfer from C&D Technologies, Inc. to Murata Manufacturing Company. The transfer of the license had been requested by Murata, as part of Murata’s purchase of C&D’s Power Electronics Division (PED). The sale was completed on August 31, 2007.

Power-One has introduced the 60A ZY8160, said by the company to be the highest current digital Point-of-Load (POL) module presently available. This fully-programmable DC-DC converter provides industry-leading power management capabilities with no additional cost or space requirements when compared to analog “conversion only” solutions. ZY8160-based systems can reduce development time, components, and PCB traces by up to 90%.

Power-One has announced that the California Energy Commission (CEC) has added the Aurora PVI-5000 and PVI-6000 Series to its list of Eligible Inverters, facilitating rebates of up to $2.50 per watt of solar-system capability. These inverters are the highest efficiency products included on the CEC list of eligible inverters, 96% and 96.5% for 208VAC and 240/277VAC output configurations, respectively.

Power-One has introduced the SSQE48T20033, a 3.3Vout, 20A, sixteenth-brick. This competitively-priced, isolated DC-DC converter boosts power density up to 56 watts per square inch while increasing efficiency to well above 90% in communications, data server/storage, and workstation applications.

Power-One has introduced the HP600 Series of 600W rack-mount front ends. Power solutions are available with up to five outputs from 0.8 to 48V, plus a 5V standby power source. The HP600 Series is designed for applications requiring several high-current rails and can provide up to 80A on a single output.

Power-One has introduced its SBLP65-1012G 65W, 12Vout AC/DC power supply. A quasi-resonant zero-voltage switching topology delivers efficiencies of 80 – 85% at full-power operation and at load conditions as low as 10%; providing significant energy savings in networking, commercial, and industrial applications.

Power-One has announced that it has joined DOSA (Distributed Open Standards Alliance). DOSA was established in February 2004 to develop standards for board-level DC-DC converters to ensure compatibility and facilitate second sourcing for customers.

Power-One has introduced its DC input SFD550-12BG DPA/IBA front end. This 12Vout product utilizes the same packaging and backplane connectors as Power-One’s SFP450 and SFP650 front ends, providing customers with DC-input solutions that do not require any redesign of their existing AC-input racks or backplane connectors.

Power-One has introduced the HP6 Series of 600W front ends. These AC-DC power supplies provide up to four main outputs, from 0.8 to 12VDC, plus a 5VDC standby output. This multiple-output, hot-swap capability accelerates time to market in networking applications requiring several high-current rail voltages and/or instances where sufficient board space is not available to implement distributed power and intermediate bus architectures.

Power-One has announced its 300W HBC48T25120 isolated DC-DC converter. This 9.6 to 13.2 Vout half-brick utilizes a robust design that facilitates an 8.7 Million Hour MTBF, the capability to withstand a 100V transient for 100ms, and operation over a -40 °C to 85 °C ambient temperature range.

Power-One has introduced the 25A YV12T25 POL converter. This robustly-designed programmable product delivers 0.8 to 5.5VDC from a 10 to 14VDC input, eliminating the need for multiple host-system circuit-pack designs, and reducing the number of part numbers needed in inventory for board-level point-of-load applications. Power-One and Micrel have jointly announced availability of the full line of Z-One compatible low dropout (LDO) regulators. The Companies also jointly announced that Micrel had become the newest member of the Z-Alliance of power supply and semiconductor manufacturers offering products and components for the Z-One digital power architecture.

Power-One has introduced the Aurora PVI-6000 Series of photovoltaic and wind inverters. These grid-tie products utilize two high-speed, independent MPPT (Max Power Point Tracking) channels to optimize energy harvesting in installations with multiple PV arrays oriented in different directions. The amount of available energy is also increased through the use of transformerless designs that provide up to 97% (96.5% C.E.C) conversion efficiencies.

Power-One and UR Holding have announced the signing of a European distribution agreement. The two companies will work together to promote selected products in the power conversion market, in specific European territories.

Power-One has introduced the SFP450-12BG; a 450W, hot-swap, AC-DC front-end. This I2C-compatible power supply utilizes advanced topologies and thermal management techniques to deliver 12VDC at 36.6A, with efficiencies exceeding 89% and a power density of 9W/in3. Power-One will be displaying this highly-efficient product at Electronica 2006 in Munich.

Power-One has announced that the latest version of the Z-One Graphical User Interface (GUI) provides the capability to configure, program, and monitor Point-Of-Load (POL) converters and Digital Power Managers (DPMs) obtained from any Z-AllianceTM compliant manufacturer. Power-One will be demonstrating this industry-first, multi-vendor functionality at Electronica 2006 in Munich.

Power-One, Inc has announced the completion of its acquisition of the Power Electronics Group of Magnetek, Inc. Needham & Company acted as exclusive financial advisor to Power-One in the transaction.

Power-One has announced that it has signed a definitive agreement with Magnetek Inc. (NYSE: MAG) to acquire its Power Electronics Group. Magnetek specializes in the application of advanced power electronics technology to meet the needs of the global digital economy. Magnetek’s Power Electronics Group sells power supplies and alternative energy products to a wide range of customers and markets.
