New standards announced for single pair of Ethernet connectors
The companies Phoenix Contact, Weidmüller, Reichle & Massari (R&M), Belden, and Fluke Networks announced a technology partnership for Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) at the Hannover Messe. These companies are developing and supporting the pin connector patterns collectively added to the IEC 63171-2 (office environment) and IEC 63171-5 (industrial environment) standards. These standards define IP20 and IP65/67 pin connector patterns for single and four-pair data transmission in Single Pair Ethernet applications.

According to the company, Phoenix Contact is one of the first companies in Germany to have been certified by TÜV SÜD in accordance with the IEC 62443-4-1 and 2-4 series of standards for IT security. This confirms that the company develops secure by design products in compliance with the IEC 62443-4-1 process and designs secure automation solutions in compliance with the IEC 62443-2-4 process.

Interference-free transmission with the Ethernet media converter
The new media converter, FL MC EF 660 SCRJ, from Phoenix Contact aims to enable the connection of cost-effective polymer and HCS/PCF fibre technology. The optical transmission of data via fibre optics is free of electromagnetic interference and provides complete electrical isolation on the transmission path. This is therefore particularly suitable for Ethernet applications.

The PC 6/...-ST-BUS series of PCB connectors from Phoenix Contact are especially well-suited to looping through high power levels. It features an IDC displacement connection and can therefore be used in particular for connecting commercially available 16 mm² conductors without conductor pre-treatment. Thanks to the flexible conductors, users can set up individual energy bus systems in application-specific arrangements.

For the market launch, the Fine Pitch series includes shielded connectors with a pitch of 0.8mm and unshielded versions with a pitch of 1.27mm.
