Arctic Sand acquired by semiconductor company Peregrine

Peregrine, a Murata company and the founder of RF SOI (silicon on insulator), has announced the acquisition of Arctic Sand Technologies. An MIT spin-off, Arctic Sand designs and manufactures low-power semiconductors for use in DC/DC power conversion applications. This strategic acquisition will accelerate Murata’s vision to revolutionise power electronics with the smallest, most efficient power solutions.

Peregrine Semiconductor has shaken up its top management team as it seeks to advance its semiconductor capability. Jim Cable is stepping aside as Chief Executive Officer and the company has tapped Stefan Wolff (pictured) from Intel to take over the role. Cable will be moving into the role of Peregrine Chairman and Chief Technology Officer and will serve as the Global R&D Director for Peregrine’s parent company, Murata.

Two UltraCMOS 60GHz RF SOI switches have been announced by Peregrine Semiconductor. The PE42525 and PE42625 extend Peregrine’s high frequency portfolio into frequencies previously dominated by gallium-arsenide (GaAs) technology. The SOI switches featuring fast switching, high isolation, low insertion loss and excellent linearity.

These two switches set a new standard for RF SOI at microwave frequencies and significantly extend Peregrine’s high frequency portfolio into frequencies previously dominated by gallium-arsenide (GaAs) technology.

Duo collaborate to develop microwave frequency tester

A collaboration between ATE solution provider Aemulus and Peregrine Semiconductor has been announced. The companies will partner in the development of a new microwave frequency tester. Building on the success of Aemulus’s Amoeba AMB7600 RF tester, this next-generation test solution will extend its support into microwave frequency bands and enable more complex testing.

Peregrine Semiconductor is describing its UltraCMOS PE42722 high-linearity RF switch as “a game changer for the cable industry” because it enables a dual upstream/downstream band architecture in cable customer premises equipment (CPE) devices. Previously CPE devices, such as set-top boxes, cable modems and home gateways, have previously supported only one upstream and downstream band at a time.

Peregrine Semiconductor Corporation annonce aujourd’hui le lancement d’un commutateur RF unipolaire bidirectionnel (SPDT) certifié AEC-Q100 (Automotive Electronics Council). Le commutateur PE42359 intégrant la technologie avancée HaRP est certifié AEC-Q100 grade 2, ce qui garantit son bon fonctionnement en cas de températures extrêmes comprises entre -40 et +105 degrés Celsius. Le commutateur est disponible sous forme de boîtier miniature SC-70 à 6 fils ; il convient pour les applications automobiles telles que les systèmes mobiles d’accès sans clé, les systèmes de communication d’urgence, les systèmes de surveillance de la pression des pneus (TPMS), les modules compensateurs automobiles multimodaux et les systèmes de péage automatisés.

Les Circuits Intégrés RF UltraCMOS De Peregrine Semiconductor à Bord Des Satellites De Télécommunication Globalstar

Peregrine Semiconductor Corporation annonce aujourd’hui que ses synthétiseurs et diviseurs de fréquence PLL basés sur la technologie UltraCMOS équipent six satellites de télécommunication Globalstar mis en orbite le 6 février dernier. Construits en France par Thales Alenia Space, ces satellites en orbite terrestre basse transmettent dans le monde entier les données et communications audio des clients du réseau de téléphonie par satellite Globalstar. Les boucles à phase asservie, ou PLL (Phase Locked Loop), et diviseurs de fréquence de Peregrine permettent de communiquer sur 16 répéteurs satellites en bande C et S du système, qui connecte les utilisateurs finaux aux réseaux de télécommunication terrestres via des appareils à bord de véhicules mobiles, ainsi que via des terminaux fixes, identiques à ceux utilisés pour la téléphonie en zone rurale. Les composants de Peregrine allient faible consommation, encombrement réduit et faible poids à un bruit de phase extrêmement faible et à une immunité contre les effets d’une particule isolée (ou SEE, pour Single Event Effect), rendue possible par les propriétés isolantes inhérentes à la technologie UltraCMOS.

Peregrine Semiconductor étend sa famille de commutateurs SPDT RF haute linéarité et à faible perte d’insertion

Peregrine Semiconductor Corporation, fournisseur fabless de circuits intégrés (CI) radio-fréquence (RF) haute performance, annonce l’extension de sa famille de commutateur radio (RF) haute linéarité de faible perte d’insertion avec la commercialisation du commutateur SPDT RF PE42422 de technologie HaRP améliorée. Ce nouveau commutateur se distingue par une linéarité IIP2 de 115 dBm, et une IIP3 de 70 dBm ; une faible perte d’insertion de 0,4 dB à 3 GHz, et un fort isolement de 28 dB à 3 GHz, permettant ainsi une meilleure performance système. Ce commutateur couvre une large plage de fréquences de 100 MHz – 6 GHz et, utilise une tension d’alimentation nominale de +3V, le point de compression de 0,1dB typique en entrée peut être atteint. Le commutateur PE42422 est disponible dans un boîtier QFN minuscule de 2 x 2 mm, ce qui est idéal pour les applications de commutations RF d’usage général telles que la commutation de série de filtres dans les équipements de test et les stations de base.
