Morgan sets sights on 2015 land speed record

Ballistic protection panels are being developed by Morgan Advanced Materials (Morgan) for the Bloodhound Supersonic Car (SSC) team pursuing the world land speed record. Commissioned by the Bloodhound team ahead of an ambitious attempt in 2015, Morgan is developing custom parts for various applications from the vehicle’s ‘nose to tail’.

Hard-coats for ESCs extend life

To extend the life of alumina or beryllia ESCs (electrostatic chucks), Morgan Advanced Materials has released the Diamonex technical hard-coats. Made of diamond-like-carbon (DLC) and other nanocomposite materials, the films are adjusted to meet resistivity requirements of the ESC while protecting electronic layers.

Single rod live-line capacitors for voltages up to 36kV

A new range of single rod live-line capacitor assemblies for use on system voltages up to 36kV has been announced by Morgan Advanced Materials. Constructed from ceramic dielectric materials that exhibit a high AC breakdown strength, the new range can operate continuously on a 36kV system line, and a negligible change of capacitance with applied voltage.
