Chipset supports 4K video over 12Gb/s link
M/A-COM Technology Solutions has announced that its 12G-SDI Chipset supports transmission of 4K60p video utilising a single 12Gb/s link over 80m of L-4.5CHD coaxial cable. In collaboration with Canare Electric, the combined solution allows transmission over long distances required in next-gen 4K editing, routing and transport applications.
High power switch features low insertion loss
A high power PIN diode SP3T switch in a common anode configuration, operating from 30 MHz to 3 GHz is designed for military and civilian customers who require higher CW and pulsed power operation for radio applications. The MASW-011030 from MACOM is capable of handling 100W CW incident power at a base plate temperature of 85ºC, delivered in a single 7mm HWFN 16-lead plastic package.
SP3T switch suits high power radio & MIL-COM applications
Designed for military and civilian radio applications, M/A-COM Technology Solutions has introduced a high power PIN diode SP3T switch. The MASW-011030 operates from 30MHz to 3GHz while handling 100W CW incident power at a base plate temperature of 85°C for customers requiring higher CW and pulsed power operation.
Bias network offers repeatability over a 2-18GHz range
The MABT-011000 bias network, suitable for the DC biasing of PIN diode control circuits, has been introduced by M/A-COM Technology. Utilising the company's HMIC process, the fully monolithic network is designed for customers requiring a rugged HMIC device with low loss, high performance and repeatability through millimetre frequencies.
Low noise active mixer operates over 4–23GHz frequency range
At EuMW 2014, M/A-COM Technology Solutions announced that the MAMX-011023 active mixer is now sampling. According to the company, the 4–23GHz mixer provides a wider frequency coverage than competing mixers. The cost-effective mixer is suitable for a variety of applications, including test and measurement, electronic warfare, point-to-point wireless and video satellite.
Amplifier delivers Psat of 24dBm across 71-76 & 81-86GHz
A four stage E-Band driver amplifier, suitable for high capacity macro cell and small cell backhaul point-to-point radios, has been released by M/A-COM Technology Solutions. The MAAM-011167 amplifier, which is based on the company's MAAP-011106 E-Band Power amplifier, generates typical Psat of 24dBm across the 71-76GHz and 81-86GHz frequency ranges.
EuMW 2014: E-Band driver amplifier unveiled
At European Microwave Week, MACOM has strengthened its hand in the backhaul point-to-point radio space with the introduction of a 4 stage E-Band driver amplifier that builds on its previous MAAP-011106 E-Band Power amplifier release in early March. Delivering typical Psat of 24 dBm for the 71-76 GHz and 81-86 GHz frequency ranges in a single product, the device is ideal for high capacity macro cell and small cell backhaul point to point radios.
S-Band GaN power products shorten time-to-market
Designed for commercial air traffic control, weather radar and military radar applications, a portfolio of surface mount S-Band GaN power products has been released by M/A-COM Technology Solutions. The portfolio includes the MAMG-002735-030L0 30Wpk GaN amplifier, the MAMG-002735-085L0L 85Wpk GaN amplifier and the MAPG-002729-350L00 350Wpk aluminium-based pallet.
Up converter's LO suppression removes need for Tx Filter
An up-converter, suitable for 28-34GHz point-to-point radio applications, has been released by M/A-COM Technology Solutions. The MAUC-011003 integrated up-converter provides a typical conversion gain of 12dB and an image rejection of 15dBc. Integrated with an LO doubler, LO buffer amplifier and RF buffer amplifier, the up-converter removes the customers’ need for a Tx Filter through it's LO suppression.
FMC quadruples video throughput & processing
To enable 4k60p video, Inrevium’s Xilinx-targeted FMC has utilised MACOM’s 12G-SDI Chipset. Supporting the 12G-SDI standard, the FMC quadruples the video throughput and processing that can be achieved on a single card. The FMC, which was developed with Fidus Systems, will be exhibited by MACOM at IBC 2014 in booth 8.C01 (Hall 8) of the RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre in Amsterdam.

At the show MACOM will showcase the industry’s broadest GaN product portfolio, a live GaN on Si demo and a suite of products aimed at applications such as industrial, scientific, medical, E-Band point-to-point wireless and X-Band radar.

MACOM showcase 12G-SDI portfolio for 4K at IBC 2014
At IBC 2014, September 12th to 16th in Amsterdam, M/A-COM Technology Solutions will host a series of live demonstrations highlighting its latest 12G-SDI chipset in Hall 8 Booth C01. The most recent data rate in the evolution of the SDI standard, 12G-SDI is required to support 4K video resolutions at 60FPS over a single coaxial cable or optical fibre.
RF power transistors suit radar pulsed applications
Designed for civilian and military radar pulsed applications, M/A-COM Technology Solutions has introduced two GaN on SiC HEMT RF power transistors. The MAGX-000035-015000 and MAGX-000035-01500S transistors provide 17W peak output power (typical) with 15.5dB power gain and 63% efficiency.

A power transitor, optimised for L-Band radar applications, has been introduced by M/A-COM Technology Solutions. The MAGX-001214-650L00 is a gold-metalized, pre-matched, GaN SiC HEMT tranistor which the company claims offers the highest peak power in the industry for pulsed L-Band radar applications.
MMIC amplifier offers versatile biasing options for radar
A high power MMIC amplifier, targeting X-Band communication and radar applications, has been introduced by M/A-COM. The two stage, 8.5 – 10.5 GHz GaAs MMIC power amplifier has a saturated pulsed output power of 42 dBm, a large signal gain of 17 dB and a typical 43% power added efficiency.
High power limiter tackles demanding applications
MACOM’s new 200 W CW power L-Band limiter boasts four times the power handling than the nearest competing alternative. It is a high power limiter suited to demanding applications which require high peak and CW power receive protection in Air Traffic Management and Radar systems.

M/A-COM Technology Solutions has announced the introduction of an L-band limiter which the company claims features four times the power handling capability than the nearest competing alternative. The 200W CW (Continuous Wave) power MADL-011014 is suited for demanding applications requiring high peak and CW power receive protection in Air Traffic Management and Radar systems.
GaN Plastic power modules provide cost advantages
GaN in Plastic power modules, claimed to have advantages over ceramic-packaged flange-mount components, have been released by MACOM. Optimised for pulsed Avionics applications in the 960-1215MHz band, the MAMG-001214-090PSM 2-stage, fully matched GaN surface mount power modules scale to peak pulse power levels of 100W in a 14x24 mm package size.
