The first GEN2 Series of 1,200V Silicon Carbide (SiC) Schottky diodes has been introduced by Littelfuse, in conjunction with the start of the PCIM Europe 2017 Exhibition. These SiC diodes are the first in a series of products based on the technology platform created through a partnership with Monolith Semiconductor. PCIM Europe 2017: Compact, and with low resistance, the PolySwitch LoRho series of surface mount PPTCs offer higher voltage, over-current/over-temperature protection, and resettability, says Littelfuse.

  A range of open LED protectors has been introduced by Littelfuse, the PLEDxN series. These surface mount devices, which are designed for use with high-brightness, 1W LEDs with a nominal 350mA current at 3V, provide a switching electronic shunt path when an LED in an LED string or array fails as an open circuit. They are designed to reset automatically if the LED heals itself or the power is cycled. 

Protection for high-speed interfaces like HDMI, USB2.0, USB3.0 and eSATA, is provided by the SP3042 series of bi-directional discrete TVS diode arrays, from Littelfuse. (PCIM Europe 2017 Stand 7-335)

Littelfuse has made an incremental $15m investment in Monolith Semiconductor, a Texas-based start-up company developing silicon carbide technology. Silicon carbide is a rapidly emerging semiconductor material that enables power devices to operate at higher switching frequencies versus conventional silicon. This allows inverters and motor drives to operate with significantly improved energy efficiency and reduced system cost.

Littelfuse introduced an industry first: a new series of three unidirectional TVS diode arrays in space-saving 01005 flip chip packages (0.230mm x 0.430mm). Unidirectional protection is typically preferable to bidirectional protection, particularly on logic and data lines, which typically do not transit zero volts during standard operation.

Littelfuse has introduced what it claims to be the smallest (5.0×5.0×4.2mm) squared Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) with a 5kA surge capability and a ≤0.7pF off-state capacitance value available in the market today. The SH series GDT is designed to provide high levels of protection against fast-rising transients caused by lightning disturbances.

A varistor series has been introduced by Littelfuse that is designed for high power applications and can operate at ambient temperatures up to 125°C with 2,500V isolation voltage. The HMOV Varistor Series’ high operating temperature is an advance made possible through the use of a silicone coating technology.

A 600VDC ceramic body fuse has been introduced by Littlefuse - the 507 Series Cartridge Fuse has an interrupting rating of 150A at 650VDC in a 6x32mm package. Its high DC voltage rating, combined with current ratings from 1-8A, make it suitable for over-current protection in high-voltage DC power circuits. 

  A series of TVS diodes has been introduced by Littelfuse. They have been designed specifically to protect sensitive portable and compact electronics from voltage transient events. 

A high voltage, surface-mount gas discharge tube (GDT) with two squared terminals has been introduced by Littelfuse. It is capable of withstanding surge currents of 3kA@8/20μs in a small form factor. CG4 series two-terminal high voltage miniature GDTs are high voltage (800-3,000V) devices designed for over-voltage protection for high isolation applications.

A series of thermally protected surge protective devices that provide robust transient overvoltage protection for outdoor and commercial LED lighting fixtures has been introduced by Littelfuse. The LSP05GI series LED Lighting Surge Protection Module is capable of providing 10kV/5kA surge protection and is certified to IEC/EN 61643-11. 

Littelfuse introduced the MG12600WB-BR2MM Series, the latest addition to its IGBT Module Power Semiconductor portfolio. The new 1200V, 600A Half-Bridge IGBT Module Series offers designers a substantially higher current rating than the portfolio’s previous maximum current rating (450A), offering the high efficiency and fast switching speeds of modern IGBT technology in a robust and flexible format.

Littelfuse has introduced a series of SIDACtor protection thyristors in DO-214AB (surface-mount) packages. The Pxxx0S3NLRP series provides robust surge protection performance at up to 2.5kA, while maintaining much lower switching threshold and on-state voltage than traditional protection solutions like Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) technology. They also offer crowbarring power fault protection superior to typical clamping devices.
