Isabellenhütte expands its distribution network with Arrow Electronics to meet customer needs.

New sales opportunities for Isabellenhütte - Digi-Key has offered customers all over the world the complete Isabellenhütte range of precision measurement solutions plus precision and power resistors. This collaboration with global reach is between the Isabellenhütte USA subsidiary and Digi-Key Electronics.

In the case of fast switching operations in power electronics, such as in the automotive sector, voltage peaks can cause inductances, which can damage or destroy sensitive downstream components in the circuit.

Isabellenhütte has developed a new range of precision resistors in standard sizes with resistances ranging from 1-6MΩ for applications which require small and low ohmic shunts. In terms of their construction, the components are also less complex than the current ISA-PLAN resistance families. Electromobility is steadily gaining ground in the automotive industry, and its relevance is increasing accordingly. With the presentation of its new BAX shunt, Isabellenhütte is now taking due account of the requirements that this trend is imposing on components for high-power battery management systems.

The key feature of the new BAC shunt from Isabellenhütte is the small circuit board attached to the shunt. The board includes a connector for an easy connection of the measurement connection. Users are ensured a reliable measurement of signals and are spared an additional process step during production.

With the BVF precision resistor, Isabellenhütte Heusler has developed a precision resistor that not only impresses with its overall size 1213 (3.1x3.3mm), but also with its high load capacity and precision in use. Smaller electrically-operated applications in particular benefit from the properties of the high-performance component that Isabellenhütte has now included in its series repertoire.

  Isabellenhütte uses the FIA Formula E racing series as a driver for its measurement technology products in order to expose the shunt-based IVT measurement technology to the harshest requirements. The future generations of IVT series products will benefit from the knowledge gained.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Systems and Device Technology (IISB), Erlangen, is using Isabellenhütte’s shunt-based management system IVT-S for precision current measurement in battery management systems in its foxBMS development platform. The  IVT series offers precise, temperature-compensated current and voltage measurement in a single component.

With its newly developed, shunt-based IVT-S measurement technology, Isabellenhütte is responding to the market, which now favours specified functions in current measurement systems. The first workshop tour of Isabellenhütte’s sales partner CODICO took place in September in Poland and the Czech Republic. CODICO was responsible for organising the events, which were geared in particular towards hardware developers, technicians and buyers from the automotive and industrial technology sectors.

The latest development in measurement technology from Isabellenhütte is a compact current measuring module. The shunt-based ICD-A system has a sealed six-pole MCON connector, which is commonly used in the automotive industry. It protects the signal and power transmission from external influences.

Isabellenhütte now also offers resistors for medium and lower performance requirements in its surface-mount precision and power resistor portfolio. The CMx series meets the market demand for reduced technical performance, says the company. 

Wires with high electrical conductivity as well as high tensile strength properties are required for certain tasks. Because their mechanical strength is too low, pure copper wires, the best of all industrially used conductors, are not usually suited for these applications. However, ISA-CON wires, which combine both properties in an optimal manner, are suited.

The shunt-based 'IVT Modular' sensor module from Isabellenhütte measures battery current and voltage to within less than 0.1%. This extraordinary precision enables permanent energy monitoring and efficient utilisation, even on high-capacity battery systems. This is why KUKA Roboter GmbH fits the IVT sensor modules as standard in its mobile platforms for transporting heavy loads.

Covering a measurement range of up to 60A, Isabellenhütte has developed a current sensor which displays flowing current via the corresponding voltage value on the analogue output. Thanks to its compact IC housing, the ILF current sensor is suitable for SMD mounting. The ILF is primarily designed for use in frequency converters for industrial applications and solar inverters.

Resistors for medium and lower performance requirements in the SMD-mountable precision and power resistor segment are now available from Isabellenhütte. The CMx series of resistors consists of three versions: the CMS, the CMP and the CMK. The devices, which meet the market demand for reduced technical performance, are available in the standard sizes 2512, 2010 and 1206. 

Isabellenhütte has strengthened its distribution network by signing an agreement with Codico that becomes effective on January 1, 2015. The distributor will take responsibility for design-in sales of industrial precision and high-performance resistors manufactured by Isabellenhütte.
