UK space industry could be worth £40bn

1,000mph car aims to inspire school

On the 23rd March, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers took the Bloodhound SuperSonic Car to visit the Simon Balle School in Hertford. President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers makes honours list

The President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers has received an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list. Group Captain Mark Hunt, recognised for his services to engineering in the RAF, was one of 243 people to receive an OBE for their outstanding achievements and service to the community in the list announced on 30th December 2014.

Poor school careers advice deters future engineers

According to a new poll by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK pupils are receiving poor careers advice from teachers who lack understanding of business and industry. The survey reveals 42% of the 2,030 people polled believe careers guidance in UK secondary schools is poor, 26% adequate and just 10% good.
