Infineon Technologies has introduced the OptiMOS 5 25V and 30V product family, the next generation of power MOSFETs in standard discrete packages, a new class of power stages named Power Block, and in an integrated power stage, DrMOS 5x5.

Infineon Technologies and Panasonic have announced an agreement under which both companies will jointly develop Gallium nitride (GaN) devices based on Panasonic’s normally-off (enhancement mode) GaN on silicon transistor structure integrated into Infineon’s SMD packages. In this context Panasonic has provided Infineon with a license of its normally-off GaN transistor structure. 

Infineon Technologies has announced that it supplies the embedded Secure Element (eSE) chip for the new premium smartphones Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. Infineon’s SLE 97 is a SOLID FLASH-based eSE chip which can safeguard the functionalities of the mobile device as well as transactions where users’ sensitive data such as payment credentials are concerned.

Reducing power losses and improving reliability in EV and HEV applications, a family of robust 650V IGBTs has been introduced by Infineon Technologies. Infineon Technologies has added 80 and 100V variants to its OptiMOS 5 power MOSFET portfolio. These next-gen Power MOSFETs are optimised for high switching frequencies, especially used in synchronous rectification applications for telecomms and server power supplies, as well as in industrial applications such as solar, low voltage drives and power adapters.

A radar sensor system, which monitors the blind spot in the car’s rear section, has been developed by Infineon Technologies and German automotive supplier, Hella. The radar scan detects moving objects even in poor weather and independent of the direction and speed of their motion. For precision, the system features antennas, which, for example, warn drivers of vehicles coming from behind when changing lanes. 

Optimised for 50Hz to 20kHz switching frequencies typically found in PV and welding inverters, Infineon announces a new class of low saturation voltage (V CE(sat)) IGBTs. The L5 family is based on the TRENCHSTOP 5 thin wafer technology with an optimised carrier profile further reducing the intrinsically low conduction losses.
