First Solar has announced that it has entered into a collaborative sales agreement with Zorlu Holding, a Turkish business and industrial conglomerate, to distribute its high-performance thin film photovoltaic (PV) modules in 26 selected markets. The sales agreement is the latest of its kind to be signed by First Solar as part of the expansion of its global commercial footprint. 

160MWDC of PV module sales in Turkey in the first half of 2016 have been booked by First Solar. The orders were placed by Basariarge Enerji A.S. and Zorlu Enerji. Zorlu Enerji, a subsidiary of Zorlu Holding has contracted First Solar to supply 100MWDC of its high performance series 4 thin film modules, for projects expected to be constructed and commissioned in 2017.

The game-changing new Series 5 thin film photovoltaic (PV) module will be showcased by First Solar at Intersolar 2016. This will mark the first time that the module, which features a form factor that is similar to a conventional crystalline silicon (c-Si) panel, will be on display in Europe.

First Solar has announced that HopSol AG, a Swiss solar developer, has selected its high performance thin film modules to power the Otjozondjupa Solar Park, which is located near Grootfontein, Namibia. When completed in June 2016, the 5MW AC facility will be Namibia’s largest grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) plant and is expected to account for approximately one percent of the country’s total generation capacity.

First Solar and its subsidiary, skytron energy have announced the opening of a new operations centre in Berlin. First Solar’s third facility of its kind in the world, the centre will be managed and operated by skytron energy.

  First Solar has announced that it has signed an agreement to supply its high performance PV modules to power the 200MW AC second phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
